Computer stale mate
Maye this isn't the write place but is it just me or have computer advances sort of reached a plateau.
I remember computer speeds doubling every year but it seems that all the advances are very small and just taking current technology just a little bit further. Is there some new technology in the works that will take a few years ? It has taken almost 4 years for 64 bit to catch on and it doesn't look like universal 64 bit will happen until a few more years.
It is nice to not worry about getting a new computer every year however but I am still curious to know when my computer will act more like a robot friend than a machine for productivity.
I heard that technology is moving so fast that they are deliberately staggering the release of new things in order to maximise the profit. the marketing cant keep up with the advances. I think the technology is a lot further on than everyone thinks.
basically they are inventing the next big thing before haviogn a chance to sell the last 10 'big' things.
The plans trusted computing has for the PC world cannot be implimented over night.
what about hardrives
they haven't really improved in years it seems.
I feel like i've had the 7200 rpm and same seek time as I did 4 years ago.
I just remember things getting alot quicker alot faster.
The worlds economy damn near crashed, and there is a major power shift going on... its no surprise that the computing world has slowed down some.

damn. that is an impressive answer.

Shhh. Digi has a weak ego, it gets boosted very easily. We don't want to give the kid a complex.
