Computer Mix to Enjoy

Hi everyone. Not too long ago, I started using computer software to mix songs here and there I like...until I buy real DJ equipment (CDJs, mixer, etc) when I have enough money saved up. crossing fingers that will be soon. Anyways, I like to tell stories in my mixes, so I usually try to set the mood with the intro song to sort of introduce "the setting" of the story...in this mix, someone is searching for the elixir of life.

Chasing Dreams Vol. 1 - The Elixir of Life

Looks like a bunch of obvious mainstream tracks.

yeah, those were just a list of songs that i liked at that moment in time. sorry if its mainstream tracks. i guess you can say that i took the popular songs that the top 10 dj's were currently playing and made my own mix.

Just as a heads up, this would be the wrong place (West Coast Forum) to get real feedback that would make a difference for you.

Most people who will respond to you mix, will give a response like you got, that doesn't do anything to help you out or give you feedback that can make a difference for you.

More times than not they will do everything they can to put you down and be as negative as the most negative people you will find in the world.

So, keep that in mind.

If you like the tracks that are being played right now, that's great. I wouldn't let anyone discourage you from playing the music you like. You will find out that alot of the people who actively post on this board, don't like trance anymore. Which makes no sense at all. They should just keep their fingers crossed and go be a part of a different community.

thanks for the heads up Robert. I posted it mainly for people to just enjoy if they are bored and wanted something to listen to while at work or in their car. if ppl wanted to leave feedback they could, but i can see how ppl can leave non-constructive feedback just to make ppl feel bad and have a crappy day. boo to them.

I'll take a listen. I am beginning to get interested in mixing and like to hear different styles. There is a LOT that I need to learn.

I think most people who go to trance clubs don't keep up with the latest tracks. They might know some big songs (like "L.E.D. There Be Light"), but probably not most of the songs. As long as the mix sounds good and isn't full of songs from many years ago, I imagine most trance lovers will like it.

Obviously, the people who come to TA tend to be more knowledgeable about the latest tracks and might look down upon using 'mainstream' tracks or tracks that are more that 6 months old.

I agree ^^^!

I think some people should get over themselves and just chill on the negative messages on here.

In short, music is music! Old tracks or new tracks...if it makes you feel good, thats all that matters!

I was just listening to an A & B mix of all their classics & it still makes me go nuts!

Hey dorkie, spin whatever you want! It's all about the music you enjoy!

cool thanks buddy. yeah, i finished that mix long time ago. really, i started making mixes just for my friends to enjoy as they drive to work or take road trips down to LA, so they know what songs are out there and what not, since some of them dont listen to di.fm or have satellite radio, etc.

if you like what you hear, i have another mix too that i finished. but yeah man, thanks again for taking your time to listen to it! =)

thanks epic007. i agree that music is music. personally, i listen to all types of trance, house, etc, old, new, sucky to some, good to others. i think even though a song or mix doesnt particularly fall in my favorite list of music, i still appreciate the creativity and time a dj puts into creating a song or a certain playlist and smooth transitions.

If that is your main goal, then it is perfectly fine to include mainstream tracks in your mix, especially if your friends don't listen to Trance Around the World, A State of Trance, etc. Smooth transitions probably will matter most to your friends.

And since they are mainstream tracks, odds are better that your friends will like the tracks... there is a reason why the tracks are 'mainstream'

(Coincidentally, I recently finished my first mix using Mixmeister and gave it to my friends for similar reasons. Not even close to ready to post on TA yet though :P )
