Hamid - Those who went astray [Prog trance, goa trance, hard trance, trance trance]
Only two years since my last mix. Better late then never as they say.
I have planned this mix for a good couple of months now.
Some of the tracks on this mix were played in a CD player
6 o'clock in the morning before sunrise when I was sitting
in a boat floating on the Ganges River in Varanasi, India.
Truly a spritual experience which I recommend to everyone.
Everyone should go to India at least once!
The approach this time is a bit more progressive but also with some nice forgotten melodic gems fromt he past and finishing out with a classic hardtrancer from 1994. The opener is a track of epic proportions once championed by Sasha during his Twilo days. Sadly it's forgotten now.
Please feel free to leave comments. If they are positive I might put out another mix in the near future (not 2 years from now).
Enjoy and feel the morning breeze of Ganges!

Just started listening to this and fuck it is tooo gooood. It will be fun listening to this while flying from here to Amsterdam tomorrow

Oh how could I resist?
oh shit!
Mad Monkey mix was awesome!
i'm getting this one, TL looks great!
This appears to be on point by the look of it. I can't wait until I have internet setup to check it.
I liked Mad Monkey Mix so when I noticed this one, I immediately checked this. And what do we have here? Amazing mix! After couple of tracks the mix really begun and I was completely hooked. Many amazing tracks and I liked the style. The overall mood remained the same through the set and it didn't go from diretion to another and that is something I really like. I have no complains about mixing either so I have to say "well done".
checkin laterz
ps. tack fr 'huvudet upp'
Downloading.
i'm going to add this to the cue and hope that it shows some redemption for the genre. You come with good credentials but bear in mind that i will be stepping out of my comfort zone for this. I will be fair and honest, and i look forward to seeing if i can't get a little trance that doesn't make me want to punch something

A full-bodied mix with depth, a set with attitude . Worth the wait , my good man .Respect.
Ok mr. Hamid, I know you like detailed reviews so here it is.
For the record, I listened to this set about 3 times before I posted this as was the case with the mad monkey mix (I think I even posted that in the review too, lol). The vibe in the begining is different to that in the previous mix (I won't compare the whole review, don't worry) in that there is more diversity. I really like the contrast between the first 4 tracks, except the OOOD has a really poorly done acid line for about a minute in that one. Still a good track but I'd definetly edit that part out.
From the Origin to the Criss Source track, there is a good sense of melody coming from the set. Not that there hadn't been up to the Origin track, but there was a chance to really sit back and enjoy the melodies coming out. Tracks like Atom, which Human Blue included in alot of his live sets, are particularly nice because they give you the thumping bass and dreamy elements which satisfy both crowds.
Both the Miranda tracks are really heavy duty. You can clarify your purpose, but I interpreted them as being tracks that are used more as tools to progress the set rather than be showcased and is appreciated when the set is done. Really trippy sounds in them which reminded me of the old Tsuyoshi Suzuki mixes in the mid 90's which had very little climax but lots of hypnotic moments. The Tegma track keeps up in the same league, furthering the eastern sound.
The Dawnseekers were one of my favorite trance duo's of all time, but I always hated Twister. None the less, I wanted to see how you would manage to fir it in. I'm sorry to say but I really think it was a buzzkill for the set, along with the trinity sight tune. It's just too random for that part in the set. I appreciate trying to create diversity, but this one just didn't work.
The south of trance track was not that bad, but at this point the flow was somewhat broken. The Chi-A.D. track is a real bomb. I would have taken the Tegma track and mixed this one straight after. It has a nice bassline that blends in well and still has an mysterious sound to it. Good stuff. The last track seems to just be a filler to keep the energy going, which I didn't mind.
All in all it was was definetly worth listening to, but it lacked in some areas as mentioned in the second half. My purpose for listening more than once was to see if maybe the flaws I noticed the first time would rub off, as I do with alot of sets I put on my Ipod. Anyways, I hope you come out with some more mixes in the future as I'm always down for hearing alot of hidden gems that people would have never heard otherwise.
BTW, Tune of the set: Northern Star
. God damn, I must have missed listening to this one somehow as I thought I had heard all 12 moons material. Really 10/10 track, easily worth spending money for the vinyl.
Cheers
Now THAT ^^^^^ is a fuckin' review !
cheers for the big review
It all comes down to personal taste as I find both that OOOD tune one of their best ever and same goes for Twister. I always fel that Twister came into the shadow of Gothic Dream and Protuberance and also one of the best releases on ITWT.
It's quite difficult to keep a set with a reasonable flow for two hours when the BPM goes from 130 to 149 :-)
I could have sticked to one style but I wanted to spice it up with some different style. You can hear one of those points during the Miranda tunes. They are two personal favourites of mine and now looking back at it I think going from a track as odd as Sunrise to the Miranda one turned out pretty well considoring how different they are in style.

| Originally posted by SYSTEM-J Not especially. I generally find that you can go up about 15 BPM an hour quite smoothly, so 19 in two hours is possible. If you had a problem, it's probably because you didn't use many tracks - it's difficult to program with only 8 tracks in an hour because you're relying on the tracks to do the work. Anyway, I'm going to give this a listen, because Mad Monkey Mix was solid. |
you could probably even go up more than 15 bpm an hour if you take advantage of the abundant breaks and builds provided in trance. I still have not listened yet, but it is waiting to be listened to.
i dub thee: dirty
Where can you get the Long Version of Beyond Infinity anyway, I can only find the short version anywhere
Great set BTW, I think I preferred your first one, but this one is still better than most of the mixes you can find in here.
