[Uplifting Trance] Kysora - The Gates to Paradise

The Gates to Paradise by Kysora

The song really doesn't have an ending, sorry about that. I'm using this for something that doesn't really need one, so I didn't bother to put much time into it. Everything else I think is some of the best music I've ever written, though.

C&C appreciated.

sounds muddy

..that's all? Nothing else?

I like it,

I'm not sure it's really fair to say it's muddy because it's an mp3 being played on a home PC used for the internet, so it's going to sound muddy, whether the actual full quality production sounds muddy or not can't be decided upon from the upload.

Yeah I like it, but from the view of the sound file your pushing your headroom and probably using a limiter to keep it from clipping. I see this so much, by using a brickwall limiter to stay "safe" all you do is create a square wave, which is "actual" distortion.

I'm running the risk of resurrecting previous undecided arguements, but I think we really need to stay out of the loudness race, especially as we're making tracks where the DJ gets to set the volume of our work before it's even played.

-3db (not -0.3db) is ideal for pre-masters, and no limiting of any kind should be used.

It's a great track, maybe go back and pull all your faders down a little, the arrangement can be done a bit better too, it does need a proper ending unfortunately, otherwise it's not much use.

Regards.

Mm, no, I didn't use a limiter on this. The only thing I compress is the kick, and even then that's light. I pay a lot of attention to how the final mix sounds, I don't just compress everything so I can turn it up as loud as I want and hope for the best. I guess the final result is just how I wanted it to sound, as loud as it might be.

Thanks for the feedback though.

With no limiting, even though it's a "whole track" image, that's impress work then.

It actually looks like an analogue mixdown, so you've done a great job!!!

regards.

Nice tune!

Another fantastic melody here from you, I can hear massive potential in this one! Keep working with it, tweak the EQ and levelling so that the elements don't overlap so much (the kick gets noticeably lost once everything comes in) and this will be a MONSTER. Beautiful progression, complex enough without getting lost in itself -- I think I wanna work with this one even more than Aquatopia now :P

And great to see you joining the soundcloud fold! *ADDS YOU*
