Watergate 04: Mixed by Sebo K

Sebo K is set to be the fourth DJ to compile a commercial mix for Berlin's Watergate club.

Onur zer, Sascha Funke and Konrad Black have all lent their different styles to the series so far, but next month will see the release of Watergate's housiest mix to date. Sebo K has been a Mobilee mainstay since the label's inception in 2005, with melodic tech-house grooves like "Moved" and his "Rancho Relaxo" collaboration with Anja Schneider providing some of the imprint's musical highlights. He also mixed up the label's Back Up Vol 1 compilation, but Watergate 04 will see the DJ ignore the techno stylings that filled up the second half of his debut mix CD.

Beginning with an exclusive intro track from dOP, the mix quickly takes off from their atmospheric arpeggios into smooth US deep house from Rick Wade, Mood II Swing and Patrice Scott, while there are plenty of techier European selections from the likes of Blagger and Agns. While none of the tracks used are exclusive to the release, Sebo has been taking the knife to cuts by Martyn, Rndm and Je Davu, carving out unique versions of the tracks to suit the vibe of the mix.

Tracklist
01. DOP - Intro
02. Rick Wade - Night Station
03. Koljah & Oliver Deutschmann - Eaten Back To Life (Exclusive Watergate Edit)
04. Mood II Swing - Move Me
05. DOP - Cold World
06. Session Victim - Contribute
07. Daze Maxim - Strange Things / Patrice Scott - Excursions (Reprise)
08. Blagger - Strange Behaviour
09. Agnes - Who Cares
10. Martyn - Elden St (Sebo K Watergate Edit)
11. RNDM - Wake Eld (Exclusive Watergate Edit)
12. Je Davu - Music Got You Movin (Exclusive Watergate Edit)
13. Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts - The Pussy Sheppard
14. Sid Le Rock - Naked (DJ Koze Remix)
15. Nina Kraviz - Voices

Watergate Records will release Sebo K's Watergate 04 on October 12th, 2009.

because having one of your resident djs do a comp is different?

Posted by Adam420 on Sep-21-2009 20:04:

The first one will still be tough to beat IMO

This actually looks relatively good

It's gotta tough job to do if it's gonna beat Onur Ozer's effort, that album shits all over most recent compilations. Let's just hope it's better than the monumental let-down that was Konrad Black's mix, was really dissapointed in that one.

I have to disagree here since I rather enjoyed the Konrad Black comp but wasnt too thrilled about Ozers for which I had huge expectations... Funkes was the bomb and this one seems solid too.

Posted by Adam420 on Sep-22-2009 19:13:

Konrad's was pathetically short

Looks much better than Konrad's, hopefully this will deliver. Love the album art.

Sebo K's one of my favorite DJs, gonna have to give this a listen. I

I liked Sascha Funke's offerings for his Watergate mix comp. Konrad Black's was meh.

i heard it, somehow the guy's beatmatching is slightly off when he transitions from koljah in mood 2 swing...weird on a mixed cd.
