Protests

I found this claim on Al Jazeera but I'm a bit warry of the slant on the site.

quote:

Tens of thousands of right-wing demonstrators march on the US Capitol waving signs reading "Bury Obamacare with Kennedy" and calling Obama a "bloodsucking Muslim alien".

Is this right? The nubmers seem on the high side but I don't count them as so high that I out right dismis the report.

Anyone have another link confirming / denying?

If you think tens of thousands is a high number , what do you say to the faux news reported outcome of about two million

Anyway the closest thing to an official number was this
quote:
A spokesman for D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services estimated the crowd at "in excess of 75,000" people. Local and federal law enforcement authorities don't provide crowd estimates.

Source for the above : WSJOnline : LA Times : ABC News : ABC News 2

So sub 100k if you dont listen to people like Glenn Beck or Michelle Malkin.

Damn, that's a lot of motivated and moderately ignorant people.

I can't beleive they fault Obama on any of the messes that are currenty consuming the country, he hasn't been in office for a year yet!

Healthcare is broken and the world knows it. -- not Obama

The bailouts were huge but fit Keynes perscriptions, not to mention Paulson was the one who initiated them.

A real triumph of the passionate and irrational.

Well, if the resistence to Obama keeps up at least we outside of the US can point and say 'you brought it on yourself' ...

-Mailing bags of tea. In practice, this makes no sense. In theory, it makes even less.

-Comparing Barack Obama to Hitler.

-Chanting "Freedom", not necessarily as a comment on their rights (that'd be silly), but as a quote from "Braveheart."

-Getting riled up that the current administration is turning the nation into Russia (our enemy from 20 years ago).

So 17ss, what kind of tea have you been mailing your representatives?
