South Beach miami hotels under $60

http://hotels.travelzoo.com/florida-hotels/655700
I'm guessing they arent anything special, or better than 2 star but that would be just fine wmc weekend.

Anyone stay here? How much do u expect the rates to be inflated for WMC?

Hotels across South Beach have slashed their prices by 50%. Travel now through December 23 and take advantage of these great offers.

Lowest offers are available Monday-Wednesday, but rates are only slightly higher the rest of the week:

$49.50 ... Whitelaw Hotel -- mini-suites and one block to the beach
$59.50 ... Catalina Hotel -- two pools and three restaurants and four bars
$69.50 ... Metropole South Beach -- one and two bedroom condos with full gourmet kitchens
Plus all hotels offer the following VIP extras:

Free shuttle to/from Miami International Airport ($60 value)
Free VIP passes to South Beach's hottest clubs
Free happy-hour cocktails every night from 7PM-8PM

Ocean Breeze Hotel
6600 Collins Avenue

1.5 star

2.0 out of 5.0 customer rating

and consider it a "steal"

The hotel I stayed at in Miami last year had horrible ratings and I loved it!!!

Overall the hotels in southbeach are shit. They sell them by giving it this crap title called "art deco". Basically, a shit hotel can be painted blue and put some fish imagery on the front and they are art deco haha. The nice hotels are higher up. But for WMC it really doesnt matter. Just go with location.

Posted by bigperf on Sep-22-2009 03:18:

shit, those places referred to above are running $300+ so more like 6 times as much!

so what would you WMC veterans consider to be a "good deal" for a middle of the road place(3 stars) $150 or below?

found this

Beach Paradise Hotel
600 Ocean Dr
2.5 stars
74% recommended

2 queen beds $148 due to 30% off for booking 3 nights.
now gotta find a friend who is down to plan so far in advance so they can reap benefits of doing so!

All I need are some cool buds, some tasty waves, and I'm fine.

I agree with Carson... thats all you really need.

are they allowing you to book out dates now for WMC next year already? I usually get flights nov/dec for cheap rates

well ya, but if you can get a nicer place to stay for the same price as a roach motel, then im taking the nicer place. I'll let some of you guys be the stragglers that wind up paying twice the price for half the accomodations.

as soon as virgin offers up service to FLL i'll look into booking via orbitz, as prices DO GO DOWN...they have that price assurance gimmick so you wind up paying the least charged rate.
Virgin air threw out a sale this week, so say you had booked a flight for from CA to DC 3 months ago for $150 each way. the current rate is $89 but you would be SOL even though you didnt wait til the last minute.
Orbitz would refund you the $61 difference each way, thats $120. which from what i've heard will get you 4 drinks in Miami.

Flying into FLL blows ass. Fly into MIA.

It's not that bad actually. It's a lot cheaper and the shuttle from FLL to Miami is not a hassle. I met some cool party people in my shuttle from all around the world. Even met this girl from SF who I see all the time at the parties in the city.

I hear you, different strokes for different folks. I just think MIA is a lot more convenient.

6600 collins ave is waaaaay down south beach. ur gunna be paying a ton in cab fares just to get down to around 8-17th and collins where the big hotels/restaurants/clubs are. i stayed around 44th n collins a few years ago and cab fares cost a ton. the catalina hotel deal was the best one i think. walkin distance to everything and people who have stayed there loved it.

The Clay is always a good bet (stayed there 3 times for WMC), but I need a change. I was almost going to stay at the Chelsea but didn't seem comfortable for 4 people. (I justed checked their prices and they are high). The Mondrian also had a deal but is also highh (again, I think only good for 2 people).

Wait a bit for the specials to start coming out if the prices are high.

I might look into a condo this year if I have enough people.

On the other hand, if accomadation is too high, I may just not go.

As far as flights, the Virgin sale didn't discount anything for SFO-FLL. It was 249 each way! Again, I don't think March is being discounted yet, so I would wait until it is.

Also the Orbitz deal is not what you think...you only get the refund if someone else books the exact same itinerary through orbitz at a lower price. Just because Virgin lowers the fare and it shows up on oribtz search, doesn't mean you will actually get a refund!

Posted by drEamer on Sep-22-2009 15:26:

yea 66th is way up there.....but for that price, 148 bucks, why the hell not? LOL!!!

hmm good point, i will look at booking one ways then since it seems like many airlines dont discount for doing a roundtrip.

i dont know miami, but i saw collins was a street mentioned by ta's. guess 6600 is no good and something in the 1000's would be fine(the beachcomber) If a hotel at $150 is going to cost $20 cab each way to get to where you want to be, then may as well just get the $200 room in the middle of the madness.

Thanks for listing some hotels by name so i can get an idea of the "ideal" location.

Posted by drEamer on Sep-22-2009 17:57:

anything from like 5th to 24th is ideal......all within walking distance....and even ocean dr or washington........from 66th u can take a bus for 2 bucks....taxi ride will be about 10 each way......something like that......i stayed at 54th 2 years ago, i had a car, but to downtown the taxi ride was about 15 then

I'm at the Clay Bitch!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by drEamer on Sep-22-2009 21:16:

just found a sweet deal for a condo....650 for a 1 bedroom!

Posted by mar46017 on Sep-23-2009 02:38:

As noted, watch out for the South Beach "art deco" hotels etc. Many are roach motels with bad bugs and a lingering odor.

Lemme know if anyone finds a good deal on a 2 or 3 bedroom condo that wants to subrent a room. lol
