Google Indexing

I'm trying to submit a site to google for indexing.
Does anyone know about how long it takes on average for google to add a site to its index?

Also, I've submitted a sitemap to google for my base url, that is: name.net
However, when I try to submit the sitemap for www.name.net, google webmaster tools says it can't find that url, even though both versions are working and I have A records pointing all www. traffic to the base address.

Do I NEED to submit a sitemap for the www. or should I just have the base address sitemap submitted?

Just go to webmaster tools, click add a site, type in the URL, verify it using one of the 2 methods, i usually use the 2nd one, create a html file and upload it on the server, its pretty easy, once its verified, give it a few days and ur site will be available in search results.

Yeah, I did that. Just wondering how long it might take.
I'll just wait a week or two and see.
