I don't know about any joke, but I remember very vividly going through a thread where you basically argued that some girl, who'd been raped or abused or whatever, simply needed to "get over it," and move on, whereas others argued that it just "wasn't that easy."

and wtf! why am i always taken out of context. i was mostly just arguing about the power of the human mind and was just saying how women or people who suffer abuse and then lead destructive lives are letting what happened to them control/ruin their lives and that they absolutely have the power to "get over it" and move on. but instead, they want to use their abuse as a scapegoat for their behavior.

Well, really, I have no opinion, one way or the other; I just thought that, in this thread, your inadvertent (or was it not?) reference to that thread made me l.o.l. in real life.

It isn't necessarily that it is getting sicker, but this is just becoming more known about as opposed to being hidden for many years.
