TA Alumni

I know that Deadmau5 used to post on TA but I was wondering of some of the other former/current TAers are having success with releases and the sort.

Posted by MrJiveBoJingles on Sep-24-2009 01:48:

Dave Dresden and Max Graham used to post on TA as well, but they were driven off by drama. Mike Foyle, Blake Jarrell, and Jonas Steur (I think?) post here occasionally. And the very helpful Lolo (Airwave) of course.

Generally the ones who get the most releases seem not to post all that much in the production forums, except for Lolo who is a regular. There are plenty of people here who have been signed to small digital labels, though.

Posted by EgosXII on Sep-24-2009 02:14:

all the ones who make it big generally get flamed to hell and cbf putting up with the bullshit that floats around here i think...

like deadmau5 who had a million people come after him all the time lol
or as JBJ said: dave dresden (though i'm not sure what happened there...)

There was a big drama-fest in late 2005 when someone posted up a private chat session and Dresden's instant messenger name. He posted an angry message and left:

And here is the thread that started the drama, I think:

Dave West (formerly of Antiloop, Audioholics, etc.) used to post here, and predictably was attacked by people with a tiny fraction of his experience.

Airbase (don't know his real name) posts tutorials here occasionally. Doesn't really participate in the drama.

Oh yeah, and I'm pretty sure Carlo Lio has an account and has posted a few times in the Toronto section, but very rarely.

See this thread for some more of the famous DJs and producers that have posted here, and an overview of the drama that resulted in most of the cases:

Eh, most of those aren't even TA-related. Darude has posted in the Toronto forum, although nothing controversial. Only one I didn't know about was Steve Angello, that was a classic burn.

Edit: Oh! And Demi graced us recently in TOTA as well, mainly pissed off about how a certain boat cruise was conducted (and he was 100% right).

Darude's a cool dude. A few people have tried to put him down here but he's been able to shoot all the hecklers down.

agnello thread is mad! haha good on him i reckon

the dresden and schulz one were pretty meh

Posted by Kismet7 on Sep-24-2009 04:53:

Steve Angello dick slapped TA's small yet vocal troll population and left, twas funny.

I'm sure a lot of successful producers lurk TA with popcorn in hand.

Posted by MrJiveBoJingles on Sep-24-2009 05:01:

Angello was an ass in that thread. Beats me why you guys are cheering him for it.

It is possible to be a successful producer without being a jerk who tries to "dick slap" anyone who criticizes you, as Lolo has proven in this forum.

James Zabiela is one of them! He used to post on the SoCal forum. Lol... I went to a party in Tijuana once and all of the sudden I heard someone say HEY WOODY!, I turn around and it was James Zabiela! hahahaha That made my day! He recognized me from my old avatar. Afterwards, Miss Julia and I hanged out with him.

I know Rachael Starr used to post here too, and I been told Markus Schulz posts under a different alias.

Well, its only smart to be ass to blatant assholes and nice to nice people. Steve has that right, who cares if hes an "artist", if hes an artist, he is also human, and has a right to shove his foot up people ass if they are being assholes to him. And only an complete idiot would defend the small TA troll possee's ethical choices. Good luck.

Is LOLO the same guy who made WHY? I know his Airbase productions, but there was song that came out back in 2005 called WHY by someone called LOLO. That song has been one of my all time favorites.

Who else was part of Airbase?

Haak is one of the nicest guys I have seen post on this forum, and never trolls. Angello let his bloated ego get the best of him and lashed out at someone who did not deserve it.

it's also possible to be an actual nice person, and get the shit flamed out of you for no reason and feel really bad about yourself...

people were flaming angello and he stood up for himself they way they did.
i thought it was funny..
the other dudes, like dresden i just felt sorry for cause nobody won, and he DEFINITELY lost

Good for Haak, that dont make Steve defense of himself by being an "asshole" to assholes any wrong. Some of my favorite artists cuss quite a bit, and i'd imagine if they were being talked shit about by trolls, they'd do the same.

I'd say Steve is more honest than most "artists" who would take some bs humble "i love you please love me" route. Thats some acting shit. Besides, EDM artists can afford to shove foot up a trolls ass, we dont got multi figured marketing deals to worry about. The luxuries of being an EDM arist

Posted by MrJiveBoJingles on Sep-24-2009 05:27:

Some people criticize him for making "filler," then dude starts calling them "little children" and bragging about how expensive his shoes are.

Class act right there.

Posted by Kismet7 on Sep-24-2009 05:28:

Class acts dont consistently troll artists and music, they consistently find music and artists they enjoy instead

Why do you keep repeating that and what does it have to do with that thread?

The fact is that if you act like a dick, you get treated like one. And not just on the internet or whether you're "famous" - it applies to everyone everywhere.

Maybe you should try reading it.

Is there anything wrong with the truth? If I were you, i'd put it the sig, you'd be more respectable, given that you hold yourself a voice reason in virtually all your posts, with very little reason behind them.

eek...my shoe just got dirty.

Do you even know what trolling is?
