Thanks for any help

For some reason it's a pain in the ass, all the midi tracks go straight to the combinator and you can't delete the combi with out deleting the midi track. I don't remember this being a problem in reason three. In reason 3 there was a box where you could assign certain instruments to tracks, but not in v.4. I'm pretty sure I could delete the device and not the track, but maybe I"m wrong. I just create the instrument that I want and move the midi into that track.

no thats not a problem, read the manual. when deleting a midi u dont have to delete the device. and u can move the midi over to subtractor with no problems at all. but the smartest thing is to just keep it in a combinator. just insert a synth into the combinator and ur good. much better for keeping the track clean for mess. keep all the effex for that synth inside the combinator too. and u can easily add more synths. combinators are the best. theres nothing at all that is a pain in reason one of the reason why i cant stop using it. why should i stop using a prog that allows me to be creative?

I've actually thought about making the switch from Ableton to Reason. I'm going to guess that it surely has a demo. I'm going to check it out. I'm not satisfied with the Ableton interface and work flow. I just don't like it. It's too slow.

ud might want to rewire them, but anyhow getting Reason now is abit dumb. You should get record+reason bundle instead. What you really should try to do is to get a version 3 license cheap(a transfer from someone) beacuse the bundle only cost you 150USD then!! thats like free! i havent tried record in rewire mode though.

What's wrong with it?

Give FL a whirl, if you haven't. Very quick workflow, if you can get used to the pattern-based approach.
