Remix Request Etiquette
Here's my rant du jour. Why is it that people no longer know how to request an opportunity to remix someone else's work, and instead just treat it like there's some sense of remixer's entitlement there? I keep getting more and more PMs/emails from people essentially saying, "I like your track - send me the vocals, chords, MIDI files, and tempo so I can remix it." And, most of the time, they're from people I've never heard of, they don't provide a link to their music, etc. Like I'm really going to drop everything and send my hard work out to somebody who doesn't even have the decency or sensibility to ask? At any rate, I don't even bother responding to them anymore.
I'll admit that I'm a little guarded of my work because I've had people remix my tracks before and not credit me (no, not from TA), but what do you guys think? Ever experience this?
On the other hand, I got a request from a KVR member a few weeks ago, who spelled out exactly what he wanted to do with his remix, was implicit that he wasn't trying to "step on any toes", sent me a link to some of his tracks, etc. and was overall very cordial in his request. He got a remix pack from me within an hour (of course, it also helped that I've known him through the forums for quite some time).

Wait all I had to do is email you to get kick ass vocals?!?
DAVE PLZ SEND ME ESSENZE VOCALZ KTHNX!
Ok, in all seriousness, I find it quite rude that someone thinks they are entitled to work with your music just because they ask. Your a really nice person not to shoot them back with a steaming pile of hate email lol

p.s. on a real note, thats ridiculous when people act like you owe them something, especially if you've never even met them before in your life and don't know them from adam.
