Smoking ..umm..something From My own experience

Klipsch pro media 2.1 -
very good sounding for the money... I know this cat who has had these for years and they are loud and bassy... Paid $150

altec Lansing - inMotion max
look stylish, pretty loud, charge like a laptop. Have 3.5 hours of battery life.

seems that the altec lensing speaks are more for ipods and just listening pleasure. are they detailed enough?

Sneaker Pimp Portability

They sound pretty loud and can connect to the computer. Via USB even.

The klipsch are louder but these you can take with you like a laptop.

I took mine to the beach even and rocked out on the sand drinking brew.

I used those for the first few years of mixing until I got Truth monitors. They did the job.

well, to be honest, my roommate got those in college and the sub was horrible...well unbalanced and delivered a cheap sound.

i'm leaning towards the klipsch so far...

I've had the Klipsch 2.1 set for about a year, I like these speakers a lot. Price as low as $100 here in Canada.

Good for DJ practice and also for movie playback from DVD etc. I have a Echo Indigo DJ sound card on my laptop feeding the Klipsch.

BTW if you have your listening position or DJ table in a corner aprox opposite to the speaker position, you will hear increased bass

i know this is a silly question, but how do i find out what type of sound card i have and which one would be a 'good' one to feed the klipsch if i decide to go for those speakers? thanks

Any sound card should be fine to feed powered desktop speakers.
