I am still trying to figure this out as well. RTFM, I know, but I have been too lazy to do it as of yet.

make sure 'show all parameters' is selected.

Where is the "show all parameters" option?

Posted by djms on Sep-29-2009 15:42:

seems to be a problem with 8 that I didn;t have with 7, Iv;e tried the new configure tool on the synth, i;ve tried recording automation, mapping it, etc still no joy lol

The only problem I have with automation in Ableton, is that it sometimes looses it when I save a project, to get the automation back I constantly have to click the 'back to arrangement' button

RTFM! .

He is referring to 'show all parameters' as opposed to 'show automated parameters only', from where you select what you want to automate on the channel in arrangement view, it's the very bottom one on the drop down list.

Okay, this is what I thought was meant. If I select "show all parameters," the only parameter available for automation is "Device On." See:

Same. I actually upgraded from Live 5, and automation worked fine in that version.

KVR site has some guy saying download a text file to put in the preferences folder but not got a clue what he;s on about, baaaaaaa

Okay, finally figured it out with the "Configure" option. I don't really like this new manual way of doing things, I like the old drop down menu, but whatever.

Posted by djms on Sep-29-2009 16:01:

hwo did you do it?

Posted by kitphillips on Sep-29-2009 16:02:

Its so you can access more than the first 128 parameters. I think its sposed to remember which ones you use for each plugin?

Make sure you can see the VST in the lower left corner. Click on the down-pointing little black arrow next to the power button. The arrow should point to the right after you click on it, and you should see the "Configure" button.

If you click on the "Configure" button, it lights up pink. While it's lit up like that, you click on the parameters you want to be available for automation, e.g. filter cutoff, decay, amp release, or whatever. Once you click on a parameter, it should show up underneath the "Configure" button.

Once you are done selecting parameters, click the "Configure" button again and the pink lighting will disappear. Now the parameters you selected should be available to automate in the drop down menu on the track.

That's a bit odd, I have been using Ableton for years and have never come across that before .

Can you not do the same thing in yours?

Posted by Kthought on Sep-29-2009 20:12:

watching closely, thinking about upgrading to 8 from 7.

But i Also need the dropdown Automation.

Watching thread closely.

Posted by MrJiveBoJingles on Sep-29-2009 20:53:

Did you check my video and try to copy what I did? If you did, what happened?

Posted by chick on Sep-29-2009 21:20:
