Mark Knight @ SPIN 10.16.09

Grab Mark Knights Essential Mix live from Creamfields 9.5.09 clicking here

Over the past few years, Mark Knight has forged himself a reputation as one of the foremost house producers on the planet a true leader of the new skool - through a string of consistently hot productions and skilfully written remixes which catapulted Mark to the top of the dance charts, earned him a nomination as Artist of the Year at last years House Music Awards, and has made him a firm favourite with a cross section of the house community. Marks technical ability is second to none, and his DJ style totally reflective of his attitude to production; rather than finding one style and sticking to it Mark likes to keep his sets as varied as possible, playing right across the board, from electro to tribal and everything in between.

Mark Knight is a DJ/producer who continues to push the musical boundaries of a scene he is truly passionate about playing and producing cutting edge house music, pioneering his own distinctive sound. From the start of his Ministry residency in 2003 to the launch of the Toolroom Knights brand, Mark has continued to build a solid worldwide fan base, and further establish his status as a world premier DJ/producer. Spin & GIANT are proud to present Mark Knight for the first time in San Diego.
Setting up the night is Paul Najera and Jagermeister's first house music artist DJ IDeaL.
The side room is hosted by SDRavers.net featuring Aphter, W.Y.S.R.D, Device, & Attomic Buddha

in november robbie rivera and dirty south are both up on the giant website with gigs at code thursday and vanguard saturday.
Are they playing at spin on friday between? every giant location(even phoenix!) has at least 5 shows listed on the weekly club section, SD has TWO!

edit-never mind on dirty south

edit- never mind on robbie rivera

why does OC and LA get the Giant treatment, but their SD venue doesnt?

at least the artists are making SD stops...

We've gotten the GIANT shaft for most of this year. The people at the club work very hard to make it a great club, but it just doesn't seem to have the parental support anymore. Last summer was out of control! every weekend was tough to miss.. just aint the same since eventvibe came in. Not saying that was the only problem, but that definitely changed the face of the club. Hopefully they have some tricks up their sleeve soon.. SPIN still hasn't had Zabiela!

Posted by darthseph on Oct-16-2009 23:53:

Lots of internal stuff going on with Spin atm. Giant was helping manage the club at the very beginning even though that wasn't what they (the organization) wanted to really do with the venue. Since then its gotten complicated. To solve that complication, Eventvibe was brought in to help due to their San Diego repertoire. Things didn't work out for a number of reasons, in no small part the economy has played a role.

I have faith that things will pick back up given time. The venue's just got a funk right now.

The other thing is to remember the numerous venues have reopened and more talent is starting to get pulled into San Diego. Ultimately it will mean good things as more competition will help bring in more talent and create better nights.

Tonight is a prime example of that.

Call me stupid, but i thought EV left Spin?

It was a surprisingly sized crowd even though there was so much talent in SD that night. My initial plan was to see Cedric at Voyeur and then shoot over to Spin. But we flaked out on Cedric and just went straight to Spin. I will see Cedric at the Avalon next week so not a big deal.

One thing that i do notice is that the place doesn't go off until like 1am. Reminds me of the Avalon slightly, since people don't get there on some nights until hella late and then it starts popping.
