Magadansky - Samothrace Mysteries [Oldschool Mixes]

Hi everyone, we are back to the roots. Again thematic mixes from me in the form of different stages of the rituals in the Samothrace island in the Aegean sea during the Bronze/Iron age. This is a series of six mixes. Just one note: everything here is just theories of historians so nothing is proven for certain. Its still interesting!
Samothrace Mysteries (The Forbidden Entrance) part1
1. Optica - Hashidity
2. Total Eclipse - Kalevala
3. Mittelstandskinder Ohne Storm - Nirhtak-Ten Years After
4. Hallucinogen - Solstice
5. Hip'ee Haus - Half Moon (Live)
6. Elysium - Keep It Cool
7. Bodh Gaya - Message

9. Jaia - XY
10. Spectral - Moonstone
11. Kailash - Higher
12. Chi A.D. - Purity
13. Faithless - God Is A DJ (Astral Projection Remix)
The island was isolated and anyone who is outside of the community was being killed, tortured and thrown out. For entering the sacred land you have to know a specific password, to write it on the entrance door and only then you can attend the ritual. The nature in the island is wild, you have to pass through many beautiful forests, streams, hills in order to reach the meadow surrounded by trees and walls on the hill and be a part of the mystery.

What you must do, what you must follow. The entire process is without seeing your master. The trust is bonded by many months of dedication but at the end you are involved into the religious society of the people.

I really don't know much when it comes to the goa and classic psy trance stuff but I'd really like to take these in and perhaps learn more about this genre/style. I really enjoyed the last trance mix of yours that I heard. These are nicely presented too I might add.

I hope you will like it, you two! ![]()

So I've gotta give it to you Mag, you absolutely opened my eyes with this mix. I'm completely stunned. I'm listening to your first one, and I'm blown away. These tracks are incredible, especially noting their time period, there is a lot of Old School Goa Trance that I wish I would have known about years ago! I'm 29 minutes in, and this track is hilarious and I had to start replying, simply because of the goofy banjo sounding thing in the background. It's got a guitar power chord, sitars, and an unreal environment in this mix.
It started off almost ambient and took like 15 minutes for anything serious to start happening. That build up is unbelievable, and everything that you have spun has been absolutely mint. Your mixing is great. There were a few moments where I could tell a transition had a minor clash, whether it be with the hats or another instrument. Flow is great, track selection is outstanding. The energy absolutely started exploding past the 45 minute mark, peaking at the last 15 minutes.
This set has banged harder than any other goa set I've ever heard from you. I had no idea oldschool goa had such power! You had a few other sets like your last rhyton shaped series that were super powerful, but this one just takes the cake. Fantastic work, I'm gonna try to listen to your other one today as well. I will review it once I'm finished
Great work! ![]()
I don't know what it is, but these 2 mixes keep freezing/crashing my iTunes...
I can't figure out why, but the end result means I am unable to listen to them right now.

). Mixing in both of the mixes is not the best but as an excuse I have to add that this music is VERY hard to mix without a minor clash, or melodies crossfading relentlessly. Its great that you find it not disturbing, that was my plan.

Winamp for the win!
Anyway, I have been traveling around for the past 2 months without much music. SO I listened to your two mixes and really enjoyed it. I won't go into detail, but you definately hit the theme of each mix.
I just don't understand why there's part 1 and 6...
Both of these were really great, ace track selection on both of them.
I must say I liked the first one the most though. That buildup is incredibly awesome
Very much looking forward to part 2,3,4 and 5 and hopefully more :P

Soon, the rest will be up!
Bump for those before I post the new ones soon!
grabbin both sets now! will return with my review later
Once again Mag, uve delivered some spine-tingling, mind-blowing mixes that definitely rank very high on my replay scale.
The first set (the forbidden entrance) starts off very dreamy and soft with some downtempo goa for which makes for an awesome intro into this mix. the progression of the set throughout was very enchanting, especially when it arrived at the next to final track: Chi A.D. - Purity; whoa....what a melody this track has..it left me dazzled
and for the closer, Faithless - God Is A DJ (Astral Projection Remix). One of my all-time favorites from AP, excellent choice.
Next up Part 6 (The Cult Dance) shows no mercy by coming out fierce with a goa track that has a thundering bassline thats bound to shake sheetrock all over
Tons and tons of mind-swirling, layer after layer of melodies are drenched all over in this set (which goa is very well known for) that will have u stop what ur doing and get off ur butt and dance. The highlight track of this set for me, is Cosmosis - Howling At The Moon ; this track is simply put: a killer adreanline rush that will have you bouncing like a pinball once u reach the 4 to 9 minute marks of the track. one of the best goa trance tracks ever made. _O_
on a scale of 1 to 10, i rate both mixes a solid 10/10 score
i definitely cant wait to hear parts 2, 3, 4, and 5. Marvelous job here, Mag
Keep it up! \o/
I didn't see these when you originally posted. I'll grab them when I get home.

Cheers
Hey sorry it took me so long to listen to part 6. The first track is a real stomper but I felt like your first transition was a tad rushed and the volume was a bit lower than usual.
I let the music hammer on for the whole set, it's almost over, and I must say that while it was a good set, and the energy was massive, it just wasn't my thing. Your mixing on this one was good, but not as fantastic as it has been in previous sets. I know Goa is generally pretty hard to mix together, and you did an outstanding job like usual, but for some reason I felt like this set just didn't do it for me. Part of it might be what's happening in my life, I've been stressed the past few days and that might have been what made me not enjoy this one as much. I must say, however, that you put together some kickass Goa tracks, and I couldn't match your skills on this if I tried. Don't take this as a negative review, because I bet this would have been a lot better if I was in a decent mood. Sorry...
Hey, no worries, I like negative constructive feedback. Yeah I did some bad transitions in the 6th mix and especially for the first one the style is not an excuse. I wanted to be furious and fast, with fast changing tempos and tracks and with each new one a faster tempo to arrive. This was the initial idea.
I hope everything will be ok in your life!
Okay, I'm home and downloading these now. I had no idea Astral Projection had ever done that remix, I'm looking forward to the first mix just to hear that track.
Its an incredible remix and great as a set ender.
Bumping those in case someone missed them.
I heard these last week I forgot this thread was still here.Firstly you inspired me to start mixing goa I was kind of thinking about it before i heard this series of mixes but you have convinced me to go on junodownload & spend some money on this sound
Anyway I really enjoyed the first mix it started slow and then built up into a really good tempo.
I enjoyed them all except for The Sacrifice part 4 where it felt a bit too slow.
But my Favourite set was (The Cult Dance) part6 where you kinda throw everything at that mix. Just had tons of energy lots going on pure full on goa!
It must have taken you a while to put these mixes together.Ill look forward To hearing more sets from you. Keep it up
