Windows XP Professional Question
Well my dad forgot his password and now it says that it's expired lol. Is there any way that he can get a password finder or log in some other way? Plus how do u turn the expiration off so he can actually log in?
that means it was a trial version and your trial ran out. You be outta luck
Just press enter when it asks you for the password.
Thats what i do.

That's why I have Corporate Edition (burnt CD

It's not activation or anything it's some kind of security or something because mine did that too saying that my password would expire and to change it and I did and it never asked me again so I doubt it's an expired activation or anything.
Well windows released a demo of XP, it lasts fro 6 months. After that you have to reformat your hard drive. That is why i have windows xp proffesional
They should have warned you about the demo.
Oh hang on, after so many months as a security measure XP asks to change yr password, for security. So you should have changed it. Mine is blank, so i have no password. Im not sure how you would change it now.

This is my computer and since my dad doesn't live with me his is at his house. What i need is a password retreiver most likely.
get into an account with admin rights...
if u cant, try loggin in using the username administrator and a blank password.
go into administrative tools (in xp i think it defaults into ur control panel)
once in admin tools, click on COMPUTER MANAGEMENT...
in the left panel, click on 'local users and groups' ... then click 'users'
in the right frame highlight and right click the name of the expired account and click PROPERTIES.
************check off 'PASSWORD NEVER EXPIRES'*********
also make sure that 'ACCOUNT IS DISABLED' is UNCHECKED..
then apply! that should do it.
