Do I have a second chance to make a first impression?

Hi Guys,

I just reedit this truck and would like you to give it a try and let me know what do you think.

Hi novastorm,

I did not change BPM yet, but if you guys like this reedit I will work on it.

Do I have a second chance to make a first impression? (lol)

Well, I didn't hear the first version, so this is my first impression and I like it! It's a very nice chord progression and the arps, pads, bass, and FX blend very nicely to make a track that feels pretty dramatic. The only minor criticism I have is that there seems to be some overlap in the lower frequencies of the snare, the bass, and the kick which is causing a little bit of muudy buildup - that's an easy fix, though and it's not too bad as it is. I really dug this track - nice work!

Thank man,

I think that compressing bass and kick will help with this issue.
Thank a lot for your time. I really value any comment from you guys.
Let's go to the drawing board and remix it a bit more to get rid off this muudy buildup problem.

Keep them rolling, man.

I agree with cryo, this has a nice progression. I felt like a little more more could be happening in the second half of the track when it comes to percussion, but other than that I think this is quite well done.

This is a cool track. The sound selection is nice and I think each sound fits together perfectly, although maybe a bit muddy at parts.

The sweep at 2.24 is pretty nice. It would be cool to hear more things like that throughout the track. Good chord progression too.

I like it! Good job.

Ive listened to this a few times over time and while its not really my cup of tea (im into more club-style tracks) this is a nice calm track with good atmosphere that I can appreciate.

It almsot makes me feel as if there should be a chillout version.

Keep it up man, would be happy to hear the next from ya

I'd really like to make a chillout / downtempo version of this tune, if TranceLover007 wouldn't mind sending me some remix parts.

Posted by TranceLover007 on Oct-24-2009 20:01:

Nightshift and MrJiveBoJingles as always appreciate and value you comments guys.

MrJiveBoJingles this chillout remix sound like a good idea, so let me know what do you need to get started.

Lets the music rule the world, guys.

Posted by MrJiveBoJingles on Oct-24-2009 20:30:

It would best if I could get the MIDI file(s) for all the parts, and a few WAV files of some of the sounds on their own, especially that pad that starts around 0:33, and some of those sweeps that go in and out in the second half. You could put it all in a ZIP file and upload it to Rapidshare or whatever.

Which sequencer / DAW are you using?

Posted by TranceLover007 on Oct-24-2009 23:43:

No problem, it will take me some time to get all of this ready for you.

I will send you privet PS with location.

Can't wait to listen this chillout version, man.

Cheers

and your name is...? i would like to use this on my sets and give you the credit of the tune of course... should i say "trancelover" haha or...?

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this track

I missed it first time round, it was just before I started using these forums.

Melodically it's pretty much spot! The chords at the beginning are gorgeous and could be used/heard more throughout the track as they get lost a bit. The main pluck sound is begging for a bit more reverb and a simple tempo syned ping pong delay probably set to 1/4 notes with a medium feedback and medium-low mix level. In fact thinking about it you could buss the delay and send that out for more reverb treatment than the pluck itself! Oh the possibilities with this wonderful tune!

Those are all just ideas that I hear and aren't critical in any way.

The only thing that does strike me is that the kick is wrong, at least to my ears. You need much less of an attack, or click with the kick in this track as it's not having to fight with anything. In fact one oh those 80s Linn kicks would be awesome.

Wonderful work.

Listening in

- Well, since i really hate arps, I'd say the intro is not for me

- The bass that comes in really drives the track, and the melody also, its exellent

- Maybe try some different samples for the kick, I ain't digging this one.

- The pads are really good, the reverse cymbal is too loud(and maybe put a reverb on it)

- The bell thing that comes in is a little too awkward for me but the rest is fine

- When it goes to the second breakdown its really nice, but maybe change the snare to have a little bit more on the high end.

- Change the BPM def, its too slow.

All that was just my opinion. Overall I think the song is fucking awsome, really nice melodies you god

good job

When I get to the point of taking on remixing this track, I will definitely consider your advice.

Cheers.

Thanks for you time and I really appreciate you different opinion.
You are not the first person who said that this kick doesn't fit in this track, so I'm really considering changing this for something different. I'm really digging this comment:

Hi trancelover i had a listen in some spare time last night, and ive got to say i really like it. If im too be completely honest the first 15 - 20 seconds i listened, i didnt no whether it would be my thing, but as many have mentioned the whole track just gels so well together, the chord progression is fantastic, a progression that does not get boring to the ear, so well done for that mate! I only listened once so i could not be critical of anything really, but on that listen alone, your onto a winner, keep up all the great work pal!
