Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising is:

Fantastic.

very difficult and hard to adjust from the typical run and gun sorta game.

but when bullets are flying by your head...man it's intense.

i haven't tried co-op yet (which is really why i bought it) but i'm going to soon.

graphics arn't very exciting but they get the job done nicely.

8.5 / 10 on my early assessment.

im fucking stuck between downloading from steam (apparently serious mission editor issues atm), downloading from game.co.uk (limited installs) or waiting for aussie release which isn't til next week.

fuck, i might just torrent it and wait til release on the 15th.

you suck australia!

i got mine off steam.

the guys that wanerbrothers ship to fucked up and so canada (or at least ontario) will not get their hard copys until the 7th.

i'm a very happy steam customer, it's a fast download (downloaded at 1.2 MB / sec)

and most issues with games get fixed rather early and it's an automatic download with steam.

you dont need the mission editor right away, and i was reading forums and there was a thread that said "steam editor FIX" so i'm guessing it's been resolved.

steam ftw.

yes i do need the editor right away, and no it hasn't been fixed.

How big is the Steam download? Might put it on overnight.

hate to bring the consoles in here, but
if anyone has tried it using the console interface, is it effective?

played some missions last night coop with a mate, and had an absolute blast. loads of fun.

I want to play co-op

I finished the first mission. Playing on experienced so it's a bit tougher but I'm liking it. Gonna go play the second one now.

whats the difference between experienced and hardcore? do you get checkpoints in experienced? me and my mate got a little tired of the early parts of the levels after being shot in the face a lot. well, to be more accurate i was being shot in the face and he was continuing on haha.

On normal your squad respawns at each checkpoint and you have a full HUD plus you get all the crosshairs.
On experienced they don't respawn and you have limited HUD.
On hardcore there's like no HUD, no crosshairs I think and team members die like flies.

well, me and my buddy play somewhere between 7-11 2 to 3 nights a week if you wanna hook up. we use team speak 2.20.r20 b1 or something. i play stoned a lot so if i shoot you in the face its just an honest mistake

ive made some really awesome long-range head shots on other dagger fireteam members in the few hours ive been playing

Posted by Fledz on Oct-11-2009 03:45:

lol yea I might have to.

This game is brutal. I'm on the 3rd mission assaulting that village and I keep getting peppered by bullets. For me it's not an issue but why does your squad not get to cover? They fucking stand there out in the open while 10 people are shooting at them and then I have to constantly get the medic to heal people, which is a royal pain as no one ever stands still
