Borderlands

One of the least talked about titles coming out within the next few weeks, this game looks like a lot of fun. An action paced Fallout 3, with 4 multiplayer drop in and drop out anytime features. Im definitely gonna be getting this to play with a few buddies who are getting it as well. Anyone else like these types of games?

I actually forgot this was coming out. Glad to see its just about to come out, no need to get excited again, ages before the release.

You've been talking about getting a new PC for like 4 years.

what a terrible port the PC Version is. It feels like GTA IV for the PC all over again...

What was wrong with the PC version of GTA4?

It was buggy as fuck, and had really poor performance (at least until a couple of patches later)

Posted by Moongoose on Oct-27-2009 16:37:

Didnt really notice any bugs...as for performance i was playing it on a laptop that barely satisfied the minimum specs so i went in knowing its not going to be as nice or smooth as on a console

borderlands sucks.

boring, bland, repetitive.

if it was the same game play with a different universe and more RPG elements, it would have been fantastic.

Posted by Sivro on Nov-04-2009 22:16:

I really enjoy Borderlands for the PC.

I love the artwork and graphic details. Overall, the gameplay is pretty sick and a lot of fun. However, I agree that it gets pretty repetetive after a bit. I'm not sure if it would need to be in a different universe...But I think there should have been MORE places to go and a much wider variety of enemies.

Aside from the repetition though, I love it. It reminds me a lot of a FPS version of Diablo or something on that level.

Posted by DimaShibby on Nov-04-2009 23:54:

yea if only it was addictive as diablo

Posted by Omega_Blue on Nov-06-2009 05:12:

just got it, surprisingly it runs playably on a win7 dual core laptop with onboard video. i'm only about half hour in but i like what i see so far.

I can't play it properly, minimum settings still too high for my comp

yeah i mean it's definitely slightly choppy when there's a lot of shit going on screen but it's playable. wish i had a better video card.

edit: actually, it plays absolutely fine. what's your system specs? mine doesn't meet them either (video card-wise) but it plays fine. i downloaded this proggy called "game booster" from majorgeeks.com- basically it kills all non-essential processes temporarily while you're in game so it frees up RAM and processor usage. borderlands went from choppy to a playable ~45-50fps i would estimate. using win7 x86 fyi.

i'm about two hours into the game, just beat the first boss. this game is addictive and a lot of fun trying to dig around for all the badass weapons- my only gripe so far is the lack of variation with the enemies *so far* but who nows what'll happen once i get out of the badlands..

Posted by Moongoose on Nov-07-2009 09:58:

Ive been playing these for the past few days and so far im quite enjoying it. Also surprisingly it works really well on my poor laptop. I keep the res low (doesn't bother me since i play classic games in low res all the time) but other effects high and it looks damn nice and is not choppy at all even when there's a lot going on on the screen. Lvl 25 Siren with a developed assassination skill tree, i kill most things before they even know that im there

anyone know how it will play on a 17in macbook pro?
3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB Ram
256 SSD
9600M GT with 512MB

i *believe* so, with a bit of tweaking. again i'm using onboard video with shared ram- it's an nvidia geforce 8200m, totally not for 3d gaming, but it works.

Just got it for the PS3 for Christmas and getting ready to start it up now. Concept seemed cool, hoping it delivers.

ftw! Made fallout 3 playable on high settings rather than medium, no joke. Very useful little app. Based on the comments here I'm probably going to have check this game out next. I'm pushing 150 hours on my current Fallout character & lvl 28 and I have yet to complete 4 of the 5 DLCs

borderlands has quite literally ZERO end game

Posted by kr00t0n on Jan-06-2010 11:03:

Runs sweet on my pc, and I've enjoyed it. It's all about multiplayer though, as PT2 and PT2.5 are boring solo.
