what happened to soccer???
hi guys, i have been an avid soccer fan for about 10 years now, and recently stopped playing (organised u-19) cause it was too demanding from me. but what i have noticed lately while watching professional soccer (especially wc2002) is how whiny the players are. i fucking hate how players dive, fake stuff, and bitch about tiny things now. i can understand that some injuries hurt like a bitch (trust me i know
) but it makes me sick when good players, ones that i have watched for years, succumb to this dumbass behaviour. i just wish that everyone could forget dives and concentrate on playing a hard game. sometimes i turned off the tv because i was so pissed off, its not soccer anymore, its some strange suck up to the referee game. i think to solve this, fifa could make a rule such as: if a player falls down and stays down (around 10 secs or so?) they must exit the playing feild for 30 minutes of play ( so they can recover from the 'horrible' injury they sustained).
well, i don't know if you guys are going to pissed off, but this is just how i feel.

I totally agree with you. although i havn't been watching soccer for that long, and i only watch it during the world cup, its still sickning...to see professional players, who are making so much money, dive, and prtend to be hurt.
Your idea of the 30 mins 'recovery' time, is a good idea. Lets hope fifa does somthing about this.
yeah they take dives and all.....thats what yellow cards are for, but i agree its stupidity, players are just trying to waste time...i would have to disagree about the 30 minute time because what do u do when there are only ten players on the field and don't want to sub the "injured player"
for the last time its FOOTBALL not Soccer !!!!!

We have football in North Americia. Anyways I think it's terrible. Hockey is turning that way to but it's not as bad as FOOTBALL :d
offcourse is stupid, but it happens, there are far more worse things in the world. look on the bright side, if someone in your team falls on a 'good' place, shoots with a free kick and it's a goal, be happy, really, try that.
Its all part of football, sometimes a dive can win you a match, great acting skills are an asset but they piss a lot of people off. That 30 minute punishment period you proposed would never work though. Dont you love when a player fakes an injury and then comes back onto the field 2 seconds later, it gives you a perfect reason to heckle and boo him all match long, a thing like that can sometimes get the whole crowd going
It all depends what league you follow too, you wont find as much diving in the EPL as you would in the Seria-A. Mikefasssy, you claim you would like to see some quality physical football, I would suggest you hit up Swangard stadium and check out a few A-league features. The Vancouver Whitecaps are in Toronto this Friday by the way, you are about to get rocked by the Lynx. TORONTO ULTRAS PER SEMPRE
Cheers
