The Cleveland Show

Anyone happen to catch this show yet? Just saw the two first episodes, and I gotta say, I am eager to see how the show develops over the next couple of episodes.

For those who haven't heard of it, it's a spinoff from Family Guy starring the black guy Cleveland Brown.

no

It's terrible to say the least. Family Guy is great, American Dad is okay and The Cleveland Brown Show is just terrible.....they really need to stop.

What the fuck, he gets his own show?

Posted by DaRoZa on Oct-11-2009 00:45:

gets a pass from me

decent disposable entertainment, just like family guy. like peanuts at a bar, stale but you'll keep eating them

And covered in urine.

urine is sterile

it's awful. just, awful.

i mean, as most people can agree, family guy has kinda been losing its edge a bit but i still find that entertaining and humorous enough to continue to watch it. the cleveland show tries so hard to pander to the black population it even admits and makes fun of itself for doing so (see the first episode). it's not at all humorous, it's just... awful. lol

i have no interest in seeing this show at all. i'll pass.

Posted by jupiterone on Oct-11-2009 01:34:

worst fucking show ever. it's worse than american dad

Posted by denys envy on Oct-11-2009 01:36:

quagmire should've had the spinoff.

I don't think Family guy has been losing its edge. The multiverse ep was hilarious imo. It goes up & down... everything does.
I'm not into the Cleveland show so much. It's just watered down, but I think they're doing it on purpose. There's a market for it, look at American Dad & Furutama. As much flavor as a communion wafer, but people watch it.
Family Guy has pushed so many boundaries and is so over the top, that anything compared to it is tame imo. Remember when Simpsons was funny?

Posted by Joss Weatherby on Oct-11-2009 02:27:

Did you just put fucking American Dad and Futurama in the same fucking sentence?

Posted by WittyHandle on Oct-11-2009 02:39:

Both suck equally imo, so yes.

bull

I can't see what's so good about Futurama... and the Simpsons, for that matter.

edit - As for Family Guy, this is the only scene that has ever made me laugh hysterically:

AND THE SIMPSONS!?!?!?!

Ok, yea season 11-17 sucks a bit but the first 10 seasons have some of the best comedy writing ever.

It's not my kind of humour. I grew up watching Freakazoid, the Animaniacs, Histeria, and the like. Humour and (a somewhat nerdy) nonsense go hand in hand, in my opinion.

Futurama was a great show. Albeit the only thing that really made it worthwhile was Bender.

As for family guy it goes up and down with episodes that leave you laughing like hell and ones that leave you with a slight chuckle.

hmmm.. i saw it more as a parody on those kinda shows, and while that may be appealing to black people, i don't think this show is overly "black". they make fun of all stereotypes.

yeah. cus that wouldn't get old really fast. i mean, how many giggety can you hear before you get sick of it?

Posted by nekholm on Oct-11-2009 12:03:

I watched the first episode, haven't watched the second yet. It had many good jokes, but it doesn't feel right. Cleveland without Peter, Quagmire and Joe is not as funny.

Posted by aNYthing on Oct-12-2009 23:38:

Think of it as specifically rebranded for the urban target market - a Dollar Store generic replacement for Family Guy. The jokes are not too clever either - just right for the target audience.
