Review: Guvernment 13 Year Anniversary
I don't remember having this much fun in the main room in a longest time
Tenaglia was unbelievable
Played till about 8am, MO did not go on like predicted
sound was also one of the best ive heard in the main room, lots of room to dance, lots of familiar faces.
overall one of the best parties for me this year

That Thriller remix is sooo good.

Im glad you had fun, though, Gera!!
Well well well...
I was pleasantly surprised at DT....
He was playing a lot harder than Ive seen him play in the past. Mark Night was playing alright as well...
I caught Carlo in the Orange room sounding a lot like his old self which was great. Shitty he got ripped off on his time though.
The KH...
I don't even know what to say. It was the most retarded display that I've seen in my ten years at Guv...
It maxed out at 600 people and it was the stupidest music ever heard. The Crookers were a joke and should be banned from playing a room like that again.
I left just after 4. My usual time. I've been walking around that building for so long that sober, my knees just can't handle the closing hours. Otherwise, Danny wouldve kept me there...
never set foot outside of main room... Danny T blew my mind!!!!! such a crowd pleaser, loved what he did with the flash lights!!!!
mark knight dropped some good tunes, no doubt about it, but i just think his set lacked "flow" - like, he would build up and drop, build up and drop, soooo many build ups and sometimes way too long but i think his track selection made up for it in the end
danny t started off kinda slow but then one track he just kicked it up a notch big time and started the party for me!! he definately busted out those big lights and gave us a couple light shows lol. played some really dark/creepy/drugged out tracks that would scramble my brain! really enjoyed him, different from his set at circa i would say. also played some haaaard tunes that that dancefloor movin'!
main room was a bit too packed for my likings earlier on in the night but i think thats because of a lack of good acts in the KH so everyone was just chilling in main room lol and wtf was with gallery being open for 30 min?? why did it even open if it was gonna get closed down again??
anyways all in all it was a good night, had a blast
nice to finally meet ryan (elendil)

ok someone must answer if they can...
smooth criminal....some sort of mashup or is that an actual mix? it was just mindblowing
Like what Gera said, I was really pleasantly surprised at the music quality last night...it sounded shockingly good in the main room!
So, got there around 11:45 or so and honestly spent until Danny T's set wandering the complex in search of good music. MO played a few interesting tracks to start off the night in main room. Checked out Manzone and Strong in the Gallery (and was excited that Gallery was open!) but really can't properly say how they played b/c 3 tracks in they announced they were closing the Gallery because it was getting too busy in there...ummm yeah OK. You mean the other rooms are all too empty so you have to get people out of Gallery and into Orange Room. Junkies played pretty decently. Carlo was uhm-azing as always, but he only played for like 20 minutes since they compacted the Gallery with Orange room.
Funkerman did nothing for me, so I checked out KH and
. Garbage in there the entire night. At least it was a place where I didn't have to wait in line to use a super clean bathroom.
Time for main room. I honestly really like Mark Knight but as Stefan set, NO FLOW WHATSOEVER. I enjoyed a few of the tracks he was playing but overall really disliked the set. I know its his track, but a big L-O-S-E for playing Music Matters, this track needs to be retired. I also don't need to hear Man with the Red Face at almost 3 in the morning. IMO this track belongs in the start of a set, not when the main room is awaiting destruction by Danny. So, at the point I'm pretty disappointed, but then Danny comes on to save the day and plays some ridiculously hard, wicked stuff. I really, really enjoyed the first part of his set, relentless. Come 4:30 or so he started losing me every few tracks, then getting me going again for 4-5 tracks. This being the first time I've seen him and how much he was hyped up to me (specificaly referring to marathon sets by him) I was overall not too enthralled. His set was too up and down (even though he played some AMAZING tracks I've never heard anywhere else! A lot of those tracks actually had a really old school house feel to them.) I think I was also kind of disappointed with seeing those set times and knowing the Guv wouldn't keep him on through the morning because of the lack of people at the event last night.
Anyways, it was a great night with a huge group of amazing people
but I think I'm going to stick with seing Danny T when I know I'm getting this fabled marathon I've heard so much about.
PS. Guv,
It was kind of a shame that the crowd just wasn't out in full force last night. I guess that's what you get for not booking trance!

so they opened the gallery (which is smaller) instead of the drink and then still closed the gallery to only have the orange room / kool haus and guv open?
it must have been dead in there last night ... and all this with no real competition from any other clubs in the city. oh well
I guess the Z 103 crowd was in Wasaga bra....
Im glad the trance monkeys stayed home! Makes for a better crowd.
What a great night! I was working till 4 and pretty much jumping around the whole night. Mark Oliver opened with some really good house and some nice remixes of old school tunes..... the story continues Lil louis!!! WOW one of my all time favourite tunes....
Mark Knight did what i expected him too. Lots of toolroom tracks... Hes a great producer and as a dj he was pretty good too. A lot of people complaining of no flow need to remember that he was a headline opener. I could tell that he would start to get things going and then have to pull back to make room for Danny. A tough position to be in if you ask me. Man With a Red Face, classic classic tune from laurent garnier that he remade... perfect set up for danny. Brilliant tune that stands on its own but still didnt overshadow the next guest.
Danny T was amazing... I was working for the start of his set and really got into his groove after about 10 mins. Deep dirty techno with house vocals. I loved his searchlights and at one point we were doing a synchronized show together hahah..
Once i got down to the floor i was loving it. I closed my eyes at certain points and felt like i was back in time listening to a Tenaglia set at Industry nightclub. It was THAT good! I didnt last past 530 though considering i had worked most of the night and the full night on Saturday. But i left a very happy man!
As for the thin crowd... Bad for business but great for the fact that most of the people there knew exactly why they were there.
That remix of Elements was nutty! Also when he was actually singing a high pitched vocal over a track. I dont think most people actually realized he was singing.

i spoke with danny briefly before he went on and i asked him what his thoughts were between guv and circa. his answer was "i love this place. it is more my style." as he pointed at the crowd and lights. woot!
He was definitely in his zone last night.... what a fun night.

I've got to say that between having so many fantastic TA people and otherwise local crew around, and having Danny T absolutely destroying the crowd for much of his set, while also playing up the crowd in such an authentic manner, it was probably the best Guv night for me in... hmmm... 3 years? Absolutely legendary for me. The fact that the complex was empty didn't mean a thing to me; the music was legit, and the people were.
Was great to meet a couple new faces - Stephan, it was great to talk to you!
Cheers all and thanks for a night of Epic proportions.
