| (CNN) -- Five juveniles were in custody Tuesday after a 15-year-old was intentionally set on fire at a Deerfield Beach, Florida, apartment complex, police said. Michael Brewer suffered second-degree burns over 80 percent of his body. "He's in for a long, long recovery," Broward County Sheriff Al Lamberti told reporters. Three juveniles were arrested Monday night, hours after the incident, and two others were arrested Tuesday, sheriff's Sgt. Steve Feeley said. "A couple of them last night were laughing about it," he said. "One of them arrested today seems genuinely sorry about it." The youths all attend school together, police said, and Brewer apparently owed one of the suspects $40 for a video game and had not paid it. So the suspect allegedly stole the victim's father's bicycle, Feeley said. Brewer reported the bicycle stolen Sunday, and the suspect was arrested that day, taken to a detention center and released to his parents early Monday, police said. Watch Lamberti describe the alleged motive � Neither Brewer nor the suspect went to school Monday, and the victim was waiting at the apartment complex for his friends when the suspect and two other people approached him, Feeley said. From what the suspects and witnesses have told police, the suspect yelled, "He's a snitch, he's a snitch" and "pour it on him." Another juvenile threw what police believe was rubbing alcohol on Brewer from a plastic jug and used a lighter to set him on fire, he said. Witness Provindencia Maldenero told CNN affiliate WPLG, "I saw a kid throwing something at the other kid, and next thing you know, the kid was on fire. He was up in fire." A resident used a fire extinguisher to put out the flames, and Brewer jumped into the complex's swimming pool, WPLG reported. Malissa Durkee, the teen's sister, told WPLG on Monday night that her brother was in critical condition. Lamberti said Brewer is expected to be hospitalized for five months. "In my 31 years -- I always say, 'it's the most heinous crime I've ever seen,' " Lamberti told reporters Tuesday. "This one fits in that category. The fact that a person would intentionally ignite another child on fire -- it's indescribable." Brewer "reported somebody for stealing his dad's bike," the sheriff said. "That's what this comes down to. It's retaliation. They deliberately sought him out, poured alcohol on him and set him on fire. I can tell you there's no way to explain it, no way to rationalize it." Police believe the three arrested Monday night took an "active role" in the incident, while the other two helped surround Brewer and prevented him from leaving, Feeley said. He said authorities are hoping to interview Brewer on Wednesday or Thursday. |

man it's great down here for a young adult with their head on straight, but fuck if i'm gonna raise kids down here. it doesn't matter how good a parent you are, it's down right dangerous sending your kids off to public school down here (or even private schools, who am i kidding).

The 30-year-old Portieles is charged with second-degree murder. Read the arrest affidavit here. Police say the couple became involved in a "heated verbal altercation" on the side of the road in Southwest Miami-Dade. Portieles began to punch and bite Torrealba, according to the police report. She attempted to fight back, but Portieles choked her until she stopped moving. Police found scratches on his face and torso, as well as a swollen hand. Portieles then placed the body in the front passenger seat of his car and drove to several friends' homes to tell them what he had done. By 7 p.m. Sunday, Portieles had turned himself in at the Miami-Dade Police station in Doral. There he led officers to a body in a gray Toyota Camry. He also told police he had been involved with Torrealba for two years, meaning they would have begun the relationship when she was 16. That Portieles had a girlfriend 12 years his junior comes as little surprise, say various acquaintances from the club scene. As DJ Seasunz, he was known for promoting and playing often to a younger crowd. His MySpace page (which lists his full name as "Seasunz Manson") devotes an entire section of flyers to all-ages parties. The most recent flyer in that section promotes a headlining slot at a series of all-ages nights at Flavour in Coconut Grove. Other acquaintances of the victim weighed in on popular social networking websites (screen caps below). Acquaintances say Torrealba was last seen at Club Space around 2 a.m. Sunday. Through Facebook and Twitter, they began pleading for information on her whereabouts several hours later. Portieles is a well-known DJ in downtown Miami. A regular DJ at Space, he also spun at Karu & Y, the Electric Pickel, Nocturnal, and the Bang and Ultra music festivals. He had opened for acts such as the Crystal Method and Armin Van Buren, and was on the bill for this week's now-cancelled Ti�sto gig in Fort Lauderdale. but then again, she was dating a 30 year old DJ and at club space at 2 a.m. lol i'm sure drugs were involved.

That's fucking disgusting. Why would an 18 year old be interested in someone that age? Or vice versa. Obviously the guy just wanted sex. How his ugly ass even got a girl is beyond me.
honestly i think the oldest acceptable age to date an 18 year old is like 22/23ish. i just don't see how a man over the age of 25 could mentally be in a serious mature relationship with an 18 year old. i'm sure there are rare exceptions here and there, but i just dont see it. i sure as hell would not be comfortable with my 18 year old daughter dating a 27 year old.
