M-Audio Studiophile av40 & Active Monitors
I used to have creative 5.1 soundsystem but since I'm in a new flat I'm thinking of upgrading. I was satisfied with them..never gave me problems and the sound was good..I've never done studio and recording projects..only traktor and some fun.
I talked with a friend and he told me about the active monitors. I checked these m-audio studiophile av40, its a fair price to start and the reviews seem to say good things about them. My question is if I will need an amplifier to use them or can I just plug them to the computer by cable? I got confused with the active and passive monitors.
Any help is apreciated.. thanks
active means that they have amplifier inside them so u only need the line level from your computer directly into the active speaker, the speaker have powerchords in addition to linelevel input. one small problem is that very often on active speakers the volumeknob is on the back of the speakers so you can either adjust volume digitaly on your computer or you can get a volumeknob from SM Pro Audio called iNano.
it has line level in and line level out again to your speakers. its also balanced incase you plan to upgrade your soundcard later.
