you need to run ableton under windows sp2 or the install as windows xp sp2, right click on it. you need to do some reading on your new OS my friend

Cool it worked, thanks. Apparently the included ilok drivers in the setup aren't supported for windows 7.

Cool - thanks Ry!

Did anyone notice the link to the Free Ranger EQ plugin at the bottom of that page?

they are available since some months already. but they crippled them so hard that you can't really use them. they disabled some eq bands so it's pretty annoying to use them.

do you need a iLok or not to run this?

No, you don't need a physical ilok usb, but apparently you need the ilok software/driver. I was also confused about that ilok stuff, but it runs just fine here without usb ilok.

it's not a compressor. it's a transient designer which is limited to the attack feature of the full one. it's more or less just a demo version. though spl sell some other very limited plugins aswell. actually i never got the point of those small spl plugins..

I am unimpressed with it as well.

Got what we paid for I guess.

Posted by LoveHate on Oct-16-2009 02:16:

not even worth downloading and installing.

Posted by dannib on Oct-16-2009 11:28:

haha are you guys serious? its an awesome plugin. Sounds almost as good as my hardware transient designer and easily on par with the UAD one (bar the release function of course). This free plugin works much much better than most software compressors at bringing out the attack (transients) of sounds!

Posted by Zak McKracken on Oct-16-2009 15:51:

wtf is a transient designer? sounds like a compressor to me

Posted by dannib on Oct-16-2009 23:10:

Transient designer works in a completely different way to a compressor. It is completely different altogether. SPL's transient designer is one of the most popular pieces of outboard gear ever created. Almost Every studio has at least one.
