Robert Henke - Atom / Document [Imbalance Computer Music]

http://www.discogs.com/Robert-Henke...nt/master/84723

Just arrived at the ol' doorstep today. Some of tracks are exercises in plinky-dinky futility. Some are bombs. This guy knows how to make some sick bass. Anyone have thoughts on this release? Anyone play one of these in a set?

Samples: http://www.chemical-records.co.uk/s...ck=IMBALANCE014

P.S. good deal on this double pack at chemical.co.uk if you're interested. 7 pounds...not too shabby.

Here's a live performance of in the same theme as this release. I'm not sure which parts of this were taken from the album but its interesting nonetheless

It is pretty interesting. I never would have thought you would be into sounds like this, Mark.

are you being sarcastic?

Not at all. I thought you were mainly into more straightforward dancey techno and house.

Decent album, but not offering much in the way of longevity. May need to revisit.

I've been trying to buy some different sounds lately. At some point everyone needs a break from the straight up 4 to the floors IMO. What u been into lately? Recommendations?

This live performance was one of the most interesting things at Mutek this year.

I was glad I could see that.

We are very lucky to have Mutek left in Montreal.

Helios, all about the acoustic electronica. Has he evolved much with that newish album?

Posted by MrJiveBoJingles on Oct-17-2009 03:23:

I don't have the older ones yet, actually.

They're well worth it - also a fair bit of free stuff he's made available (links are on his myspace, I think).

I wondered if Master Wiimote was going to come and take a crap in this thread. And here he is!

Both are excellent albums bravo! I personnaly prefer Helios' first album-eingya (and i think it should enjoy the status of a classic album) but both are beautiful pieces of that melancholic and ethereal downtempo folk-tronica/call-it-what-you-want.

And why not many people know about the 90s IDM legend that -Ziq is? This is some of the most creative electronic music i've ever heard of.
