Teezdalien - This is Hard Techno (Oct.2009)

Hi All, something a little different from the usual tech and prog sounds I've been playing. I was a bit drunk the other night and really felt like playing some hard aggressive stuff so I ended up mixing and recording this.
Haven't seen a lot of hard techno sets posted here so I thought I'd post it up however the last couple of transitions are quite sloppy and wasn't gonna do it again. As always feedaback is most welcome.

Got me there! Yeah I should practice what I preach. But yeah it's frustrating when that shit happens well into a set and I wasn't gonna strive to get this one perfect. I was just having fun playing this as I haven't done a hard tech mix for a couple of years now.
Anyway thanks and I hope you enjoy!

And Zip, if you read this feel free to give me flogging!

I'm all over this. In my opinion, just because a set has a few bad transitions doesn't mean it's a failure

Cheers mate. Yeah I was pretty cut with the last couple of mixes but I guess this sound lends itself well to a lot of manipulation and I think you can get away with a bit of rough mixing and not affect the flow too much as it's not really as melodic as trance or house, it's more percussive and rhythmic with sounds that are mutilated to the shithouse.

looks fucking vicious

This was just a little bit tough for me; a bit too much 'shranz' and not enough 'hard'.

Made it all the way through though - the slip-ups (ahem) were a bit distracting, but overall a nice thumping listen with a clear progression of tracks.

Do a slightly puncier one.

Cheers for your feedback Stub, good to see others have a liking for harder sounds too! I was kinda testing the waters here with this set and really wanted to see if there was much interest here for hard techno. I've been a fan of the genre for a long time but haven't put any mixes up here, this is actually the first hard tech mix I've made for two years now and just felt like getting one together recently after a gutfull of booze. I think I've missed playing some harder stuff recently so it felt great just playing without thinking too much about it. I put absolutely no planning or preperation into this and just flew by the seat of my pants, however it does show and I make no excuses for the sloppy mixing in spots.
I've always kinda wondered how people differentiate between schranz and hard techno, both very, very similar and I'd actually considered most of these tracks hard techno.
I would like and will put another mix in this style together down the track using ableton instead of the pacemaker.
