i got bored and decided to set this up for fun.
we'll start with TOTA and see if it spreads to other cities.

scan this barcode using BBM 5.0

You just save your barcode to your device and then however you choose to get it off (hahahaha) then you post it...

I'll join... AS SOON as I figure out how to turn off notifications (alerts/vibration) for BBM GROUP messages... annoying as shit when 10 other people are having a group conversation and your BB is vibrating constantly and the LED is going off.

I've changed it in the advance options of profiles, but it won't budge. Thinking I might have to make my own profile. Balls... i'm in two other groups at work that I HAVE to be in, annoying when they are chatting when i'm not at work and it keeps going off!

On another BB note, Facebook 1.7 was released this weekend...

barb, just scan the barcode and join the group.
when you're in bbm press the blackberry button and go to Scan A Group Barcode
then hold your phone up so the camera and read the barcode and... voila!

i just did it and only the LED blinks (which is what i set it for).

Out Of Holster: None
Ring Tone: Notifier_Eager (doesnt matter what this is set to)
Volume: Mute
Number of Beeps: 1 (irrelevant)
Repeat Notification: LED Flashing
Number of Vibrations: 2 (irrelevant)

same settings for In Holster.

nope. the group is not used for promo. its just for a group of ta's to shoot the shit.
use the event forum and keep an eye for roll calls for your purposes.

the barcode feature is cool but seems kind of gimmicky. i cant imagine it ever being not lame to say "eyyyy gurl lemme get'cho barcode", and rubbing the phones together for 20 seconds until it registers, rather than just asking for their number or texting the pin...

being able to post a group online like that is pretty sick though. too bad the group caps out at 30 people. maybe for the bigger events in the future a new group could be made and put in the roll call or something

Yeah, on my Tour I don't got it looking like that? Under PROFILES>SET RING/TONES ALERTS>INSTANT MESSAGES.... do you have

-BlackBerry Messenger Groups
-BlackBerry Messenger New Message

Cuz I changed it in BBIM Groups... and I had it set to whatever sound, Volume = Silent, LED = On, Vibration = Off, Notify Me During Calls = No. And I still get buzzed about a message whenever i'm not IN the group chat actually chatting.

I don't want to change my BBIM new message because I use this for work constantly and I WANT the vibration alert for when (individual) people message me...

Try the settings I tried in the above reply to Jay... let me know how it works out for you?

But the PROFILES is up in the top left corner under the battery indicator on the main screen. (As long as you didn't change themes or anything)

You can also get it by hitting the menu button and looking for the icon that looks like... a speaker with the pulses coming out and a small circle (if you have it on a non default sound profile)

I'm gonna do some more testing on it, if not, i'll ask my analysts here at work if they know why those settings don't work on a Tour. I know they do for the 8900 and BOLD.

I don't want to change ALL the message alerts, just the group ones. I still want vibration and notification for personal BBIM messages.
