Just received from Spundae:

Hi,

You're getting this email because you recently signed up for the Sander Van Doorn guest list on Spundae.com.

We are sorry to inform you that there was a typo on the guest list page. The guest list page stated that the cover was free before 11:30pm when it is
actually a discount guest list with a cover of $15.

We are sorry for any confusion and hope to see you out at Ruby Skye on Friday night!

-Spundae

It's not a guest list, but you save the ticketweb service fees. Wooha!

ya just saw this on FB post by one of the ta's who signed up. if they hadnt sent out the email that would have been really shady. since you would have arrived tomorrow and then get told on the spot it not free, its $15. by that time plans would be set and majority of people would pay it and go anyways.

could be an interesting way to generate more interest/revenue, but not sure the extra income would be worth the backlash. so kudos to spundae for sending out the email with at least a day's notice of the change.

another Christopher Lawrence GL in case the original one I posted gets changed as well lol

I Like how they called it a "typo". Anyway I sprung for the presales. Couple bucks more is worth not having to rush to get in before 1130 since I have a bday dinner to attend prior to. Too bad for many of my broke friends who won't be attending now.

Sad

WHY IS CHRISTOPHER LAWRENCE PLAYING AT THE SAME TIME AS JOHN '00' FLEMING??

That's just not fair ;_;

Ruby at 945 to get a stamp, then head to 1015 for the $2 drinks and Ismael's opener(you really wanna see frenchy?) back to ruby for CL 12am-2am and then cab over to 1015 and catch John from 215- 4am or later.

nice little adventure!

fupaking, let us know how sander was....if i recall you went to see him memorial day weekend in SD when a bunch of us went to see lee burridge over at on broadway(which was followed by an after hours lee set at keating!)

sander fuckin ripped it up. I loved his set. I thought there was a nice progression to his set. He went techy then banging then trancey. His songs were sprinkled throughout the set.

Yup. I've seen Sander now 4 times.
1st time in Sao Paulo for Skol Beats (huge festival where Sander was the headliner a few years ago). I was amazed how big he was!

2nd time in SD as you mentioned. He was good, but the crowd was thin
because of EDC. But what was nice is he came right down from the booth
to meet and greet afterwards (I still can't find our pic on Facebook!). Hard for me to compare to Lee, cause I'm not a big fan.

3rd was this summer in Ibiza/Cream. Was the standard set.

4th was last night, and was his best set I've seen him bang out, at least since Sao Paulo. (I didn't go to his Cow Palace gig). Definitely dropped his more tough borderline trance/techno style which is what made me souch a big SvD fan in the first place. A lot of fat bangin' beats. I guess something about SF that lets DJs unleash their inner-beast! Crowd was "ok", on the medium side (no guest list afterall)...mostly dudes, but everyone up in the front knew what they were getting. I think Sander played from about 12:30 to 2:45. Upstairs balcony was completely empty by that time from what I could tell. Too bad there wasn't a bigger crowd, they might have let him go a bit longer. But I'm satisfied. Excellent set!

does anyone have any idea what that song that sounded like it was sampled from a megaman game? that song was fucking ridiculous and it seems like he hasnt played it on any of his radio shows or recent sets that are online. i really hope it wasnt a promo because i want it so bad

It was about halfway through his set

Hearing an early crowd for last night doesn't amaze me. With Halloween being in on actual weekend this year + Ferry on Friday, and Armin on Monday, I'd expect a lot of people to stay in this weekend compared to usual, with the plans to go all out next weekend. Especially in SF with what's going on between Ruby and 1015

SvD also needs to play clubs gigs more regularly in SF. He needs to in order to get a following.

i've seen him 3 times i don't think svd will ever be as good as his debut at 1015 where he went on a 4 hour rampage in the main room. i just don't see that happening at ruby and especially not at a rave...

ugh I must have been out of town. I would love if that would ever happen again

Posted by DaveT on Oct-25-2009 03:03:

The first time at 1015 is still the best set I've heard from him EVER, hell. Including all his amazing identity mixes (which were much, much better when they were straight mixes w/ no talking).

But I think the unexpected awesomeness and how he drew everyone in from the others rooms made that night insanely (I cannot express how f'n awesome hat night was) magical and that's probably why it will always stand out to us.

I'm with yo Rich...don't think he'll ever be able to match that night -- but it was the whole night that made it awesome, in addition to his set. Even if he was playing at 1015 every time still these days, it would never come close to that night.

Posted by sstranger1 on Oct-25-2009 03:22:

I too was there at Sander's debut in SF and I do agree that that was the best I heard from him. And back then was when he wasn't as big as he is now but I still had a great time last night.
