Recording something from your radio (think ghetto blaster)

Didn't know how else to explain it.

A friend of mine needs to record some interviews from the radio.

It's just a small pocket radio with 3.5mm phono jack on it.

What unit, cheap and cheerful, the cheaper the better would suit her needs?

Once a cable is plugged into the radio i'm presuming she wont be able to hear anything so knowing when to record the tape might be a bit tricky. Maybe a splitter with headphones attached at one end and a line in cable connected to the recording device would work...

Anyway, i need to recommend a recording device to her please.

Thanks.

Why don't you use the lead that the above poster has suggested and route it through your mixer - then record from there.

Hey lads,

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

Basically i want nothing to do with helping her record every time she needs to.

She has to record some interviews that will be happening on radio.

needs a way to do this. I need a small device that will allow her to plug it into the radio and hit record.

think a dictaphone, but plugged straight into the radio.

And cheap please

Thanks so much,
steven

you could plug a headphone splitter into the radio

in one jack have headphones and in the other just a cord with a 3.5mm plug on each end that will go to the mic in on a computer or whatever she will be using to record.

she can just use sound recorder or something that is probably already on her computer, if not audacity or any other free program should do the trick.
