Odd question, but promise it is music related. Have you seen the movie "Sunshine" ???
I know this is a very odd question, but has anybody here seen and extremely enjoyed "Sunshine"
IMDB: Trailer
A team of astronauts are sent to re-ignite the dying sun 50 years into the future.
The movie is directed by Danny Boyle (Same guy as 28 days later) - The movie score is by John Murphy (Also did the 28 days later series)
But moving on....the theme from this movie absolutely captivated me. In particular when Kappa *SPOILER ALERT* is standing in front of the sun as the payload ignites.*CONTINUE ON*
I've already gone through and cut a ton of vocal samples and even FX from the movie. The most important vocals in my opinion being...."So if you wake up one morning, and it's a particularly beautiful day...you'll know we made it" (it's the final words towards the end of the trailer) Imagine that peaking along with the insane composition build. I get goose bumps just thinking about it. Anyway, I have tons of MIDI along with the chords done (thanks Cryo with the help) - The track is in F minor.
Anybody up for the challenge for a collab? No half assing either. Don't even bother reading any further if you cannot commit 100% to this. (Even though the post is done now)
Shoot me an email if you have interested and we can go from there.
This is the track we'll be using the MIDI from.

We will be putting it into a dance format, obviously, and adding various vocal snippets from the movie where appropriate.
Interestingly enough, a remix of the 28 days later theme was done as well. It was a pretty strong release. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZQIWDLez2E
Oh yea, I use Ableton 8 Suite. My primary synths are noted in my signature. I don't mind buying a synth or two as long as they are not ridiculously priced (cough omnisphear) - I need some new toys anyway.
okok, enough.

Underworld did that score didn't they? Its top notch, and yeah I think your taste is impeccable in samples.

This is a nice theme but did you know a quite excellent remix of this was already done by Mark Sherry: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyqC6Dfs6Ag
Just thought I'd mention it cause your plan for the remix seems quite like what Mark did.
sounds almost exactley like this.

Just realized XDR beat me to it...same youtube link and everything. LOL.
I actually attempted a remix a while ago, I don't remember why I didn't finish it...
I'd be up for a collab but I use FL Studio, if that works for you it works for me.
A friend recommended it; I'll check it out soon!
Theres actually a ton of scores I've always wanted to remix, but specifically the one in the movie "Crash", when the african american women is in the car and its about to explode, then the white racist cop comes to save her.
It doesn't really start till after 2mins, or the part I like at least:
Crash
Its nothing special but the vocals always make my spine tingle.. always wanted to see what it would sound like if I thickened up the sounds and put it into a driving trance track.
not to hijack your thread but I do know how movies can inspire you to produce.

Originally posted by MrJiveBoJingles I like that song, too. Before I had ever seen or heard of the movie, I was visiting my parents and they were watching it in the other room, and it really caught my ears and made my spine tingle.
fucking awesome film with a fucking awesome score...
as mentioned sherry beat you here though stephen
could still have a crack at a different one of course though, and the fact he got it released is a good sign you might be able to get the rights
love sherry's intro mix though...
"our sun is dying......." \o/

Originally posted by DjStephenWiley Sherry used the actual track from the score instead of writing his own MIDI, which is yet another difference. I've written a multi-track MIDI for the entire song not just the uplifting part.

Originally posted by RichieV without the piano voice leading in the original , you will lose the entire feeling of the song. It will just be a chord progression used in thousands of other songs. That is the most integral part of the melody. IF you plan to use the melody, you should use that piano motif in some way.
Random I also had this idea and am working on a remix of a track, I'll post my progress..
I recreated all the parts in my remake, the only samples i used were the vocals..just to set the record straight.
