Ciao a tutti!

I haven't been very productive this year what comes to mixtapes, so I've been taking time in the past two weeks and here's the result. I decided to divide this into four ~1h parts with different themes, so I hope you'll find something for yourself here (assuming that you like house ). Here's a little description for the mixes:

Arrival

laidback house grooves, vocals, lots of piano

01 Lukas Greenberg feat. Nica Brooke: Prisoner With A Key (Intro) [Plastic City]
02 Tomas Barfod: Light Shine [Urbantorque]
03 Dana Bergquist & Peder G: Loveshine [Discoteca]
04 Karol XVII & MB Valence: House Me [Onethirty]
05 Penner & Muder: No Nose Knows [Moodmusic]
06 Lovebirds: This Feelin' [OM]
07 Stretch Silvester feat. PJ Higgins: Faith (Faze Action Dub) [Rebirth]
08 Dakota: Roxy '84 (Michael Cassette Mix) [Armada]
09 Hipsters: Remember (Ajello Edit) [Hell Yeah]
10 Way Out West: We Love Machine [Hope]

Tartaruga Lounge

nu disco, around 115 bpm

01 Way Out West feat. The Babongo Tribe: Evelina [Kensal Town]
02 Tracey Thorn: Raise The Roof (Beyond The Wizard's Sleeve Re-Animation) [New State]
03 Woolfy & Projections: Return Of Starlight (Invisible Conga People Mix) [Permanent Vacation]
04 Toby Tobias: The Feeling (I:Cube Mix) [Rekids]
05 Windsurf: Light As Daylight (The Beat Broker's Neon Razor Dub) [Internasjonal]
06 The Revenge: Night Flight [Jiscomusic]
07 Urban Absolutes: Sunbath On Venus (Dana Bergquist & Peder G Mix) [In Deep]
08 Camaro's Gang: Fuerza Major (Tensnake Mix) [Radius]
09 Hannulelauri: Glittering Night [Flexx]
10 Aeroplane: Pacific Air Race [Eskimo]
11 The Diaphanoids: Weightlessmotionless [Bear Funk]

Lua Beach Club (2AM)

a.k.a. the club mix, suited for intimate and atmospheric club. deep and pumping house and techno

01 Glimpse & Martin Eyerer: Southern Soul [Buzzin' Fly]
02 Chad Neiro: Shadows [Viva]
03 Scope feat. Sandra Lima: This Rhythm (Florian Kruse & Nils Nürnberg Mix) [NRK]
04 Oxia: Whole Life [8Bit]
05 Coyu & Edu Imbernon: Burn Myself [Great Stuff]
06 Santos & Alex Dolby: Babylon [Bedrock]
07 Claude VonStroke: Aundy (Catz 'n Dogz Mix) [Dirtybird]
08 Jamie McHugh & Darren Emerson: Dark Matter (Burnski's Old Skool Mix) [Variance]
09 DJ T: Shine On (Motor City Drum Ensemble's Warehouse Dub) [Get Physical]
10 Remerc: Wobble Night [Greelpound]
11 Joystick & Kressel: Calypso [Aenaria Tribal]
12 Dirty Mongrel: Sweep Up [Bedrock]
13 Xenia Beliayeva: Analog Effekt [Systematic]
14 Jori Hulkkonen: I Dance To Your Bass, My Friend [Turbo]
15 Electric Rescue: Vetetroi (Davis & May Mix) [*Back Home]

Departure

deep 'n dubbier music for lazy afternoons

01 Lulu Rouge: Ninna Ninna [Music For Dreams]
02 Dirty Mongrel: Cream [Bedrock]
03 D-Pulse: When You Stay Alone [Fantasize]
04 The Timewriter: Travellers (Beat Pharmacy Dub) [Plastic City]
05 Nick Sole: Earth [Fine Art]
06 Shinedoe: No Boundaries (Martin Buttrich Mix) [Intacto]
07 Karraskilla: Expreso Cali (Pawas Mix) [Biatch Corp]
08 Blu Mar Ten: Home Videos (Terry Lee Brown Junior Mix) [Plastic City]
09 UNKLE: Hold My Hand (Innervisions Orchestra Dub Mix) [Surrender All]

The sound in the mixes is pretty summery in general, and they include some of my favourite tunes this year and some of the latest tracks as well. You can hear here and there that this is not an Ableton mix, but I'm pretty satisfied with the result. As always, comments and feedback are more than welcome!

yeah hannulelauri has damn nice tunes, proper laser disco 8) It would be nice if they'd release music more often tho, still waiting for Replica to be released! They were rocking live here in Turku couple of weeks ago

"Beyond The Wizard's Sleeve"

Your mixes are always awesome Aki, I'll grab all four of these in the next month or so.

I don't know when I'll get around to listening to all four, but I'm sold.

I just typed Wizard's Sleeve into Urban Dictionary, and lets just say that the phrase is pretty describing Nice name for an artist!

I added the tracklist to the first post and the cue files can be found from the folder. I also tried to add cover picture to the files so if you play the mixes with iTunes, Winamp or f.e. iPod it _should_ include the cover as well now Uploading the new files atm, it should take one more hour to finish.

just listened to Arrival.
sounded great in terms of tracks. only concern is the key clashes. the beatmatching/eq was great, but some of the mixes were off-key and sounded weird. that being said, the mix into Roxy '84 was a perfect keymatch and worked really well.

on to Tartaruga Lounge!

Posted by kadomony on Nov-10-2009 04:08:

ok just finished the remaining 3.
really nice!

tartaruga lounge had some nice nu-disco stuff and a couple tracks i didnt know about.

wasnt feeling lua beach club much, too techy for me but i did really enjoy the last 3 tracks.

the best tho, was departure. awesome atmospheric deep house that fit really well with my zoned out mood atm.
at first i was thinking...hmm wish this set was a bit longer, but by the time the really nice UNKLE tune finished, I was pleased with the smooth landing.

Really liking this first one. Two of my favorite releases of the past few years on there, so had to be good!

Wow, thanks for taking the time to listen all four mixes and especially for giving constructive feedback! You're right about the key clashes and programming in Arrival - I had three mixes done and there were still shitloads of tracks that I wanted to introduce here, so Arrival is a left over mix and some of the tunes like We Love Machine gives real headache what comes to mixing The flow is definately not the best here and I was thinking whether I should publish it or not, but as said, the tracks were too damn good the left outside I tried to put tracks like Mimosa - End Of Me and
Badly Drawn Boy - Promises (Beyond The Wizard's Sleeve Re-Animation) here as well but with those the flow would have been even worse!

What comes to that techy stuff, I like it but in small portions - I tried to mix the "loop tracks" in the second quarter as fast as I could and introduce different kinds of tech house/techno/whatever here. First more atmospheric stuff (f.e. Shadows), then pumping tech house (f.e. Burn Myself), then oldskool-sounding house (f.e. Shine On), then minimal (Calypso) and finish with "raw" sounding melodic stuff (like that Jori Hulkkonen track), if that makes any sense

Departure has had the best reactions in the finnish boards and I'm most pleased with the result as well. Talking about finns, the new Jori Hulkkonen album is absolutely brilliant!

Cheers And thanks to everybody who has listened and commented on these, I think the next mix will be more dancefloor orientated because I'll be moving to Bologna (Italy) next February and need a promotional mix to hand out to promoters over there
