Trace Hazen - Shoulder Lean [Trendhouse]

I was messing around with some new tracks last night, and since I don't have anything to show for the last few months I ended up recording it for myself. I wasn't really planning on posting this, but I figured it turned out decent enough to share.

This isn't really my favorite style, but I figured I would have a go at it and maybe use this for club promos. I realize theres a lot of current/familiar tunes in here, and some of it may be a bit played out. This was unplanned and on the fly, so take it for what it is... hopefully some of you may enjoy.

Tracklist:
1. No Regular Play - Derecha [Wolf + Lamb]
2. Seuil - Lost in the Soul Shower [Freak n Chic]
3. Dilo - Ice [Einmaleins Musik]
4. Black Door Beauty (Dyed Soundorom's Afraid of the Ghost Dub Mix) [Spectral Sound]
5. Audion - Instant In You [Spectral]
6. Audiofly X - No Name No Face [Circle Music]
7. Miro Pajic - Bizzare Desire [Tic Tac Toe Records]
8. Monika Kruse - Hope (Heartthrob Remix) [Terminal M]
9. Run Stop Restore vs Click Box - Helen in the Keller [Minus]
10. Hot Natured - Red Light District [Culprit]
11. Catz'n Dogz, Pol_On - This Is What I'm Doing [mothership]
12. Precious System - The Voice From Planet Love (Dixon's Chic-A-Go Edit) [Running Back]
13. Yakine - Funkdashit (Okain Remix) [Jetaime Records]
14. Levon Vincent - Late Night Jam [Ostgut Ton]

In, looks great man. Lots of tracks I like a lot.

BTW, "Red Light District" was a real chore for me to mix out of in my mix, really curious as to how you pulled it off here.

w3rd

Gonna listen tomorrow

Also wondering if you had any trouble mixing into Late Night Jam

TRENDY FOR SURE, CAN'T WAIT TO DON MY V-NECK AND SHADES AND TAKE A LISTEN WHILE PUFFIN ON A PARLIAMENT.

The only thing I really had trouble with was mixing out of the first track, but I eventually got it down. The main riff of Helen in the Keller comes in really early, so that was a little tough as well.

You forgot about our fedoras, Austin.

DLing. I feel trendier already!

Mmmmm, dark and groovy, as usual (which is a good thing). This is probably my favorite set from you so far, a lot of standout tracks for me and only a few that fell flat. The section right before Helen In The Keller and through to the end rocked, loved that the most.

There was a semi wonky bassline switch near the beginning, and a couple tiny beatmatching errors, but otherwise really technically solid. I would say this works pretty damn well as a promo, nice work.

HELEN'S IN THE KELLERRRRRRRR

OK, so I listened last night. Pretty solid set, lots of good new tracks and decent mixing. The flow worked pretty well too.

I spotted that bassline switch Austin mentioned in the first transition, that tends to happen to me too when I'm mixing new tracks for the first time.

There was another semi fuck-up on the transition into "The Voice From Planet Love", might have been a Traktor fart, I don't know. But you may want to edit that transition if you're planning on using it as a promo.

Other than that it was a really nice set man, highly enjoyable.

Thanks for the feedback guys. The error towards the end was indeed a Traktor fuck up, but since I orginally recorded this for my own listening I was too lazy to go back and do it all over. Really had no idea how this would go over, but now I guess its worth taking the time to re-record and use.

The other mix I've been working on for the past month is taking some time as it is a rather difficult style, which is why I took a break and did a fun mix that I might could actually use. Anyways I hope to have that out soon.

Fucking nice set mate. I really enjoyed your selections and the mixing was smooth all the way through (although going into
Voice from Planet Love was a little sketchy for a couple of seconds, as I'm sure others have mentioned). I get the impression
that you tend to go for the more tripped out sounds that techno/house has to offer, and I must say I like them as well! I was
positively grooving to this the whole way through, so overall a nice soundtrack to my morning commute. Thanks!

Thanks Adam. It seems I am beginning to find "my sound." I dunno what it is, but spacey sounds and dark/trippy atmospheres always get me, regardless of the genre in question.

this was the best i have heard from you yet

Posted by enydo on Nov-05-2009 07:16:

Yeah, Trace does very well. Makes me want to practice.

Dilo - Ice original

I guess this is where I should post my mix

Posted by Seppuku on Nov-06-2009 00:49:

get in on it matt! lots of other good sets in here.

Posted by Lomeli on Nov-06-2009 00:54:

Seppuku. Did you at one point live here in Santa Barbara? Maybe i've seen your name on a couple flyers around town. Muddy Waters?

Posted by Seppuku on Nov-06-2009 00:59:

Nope. Metro Atlanta all my life.

Posted by Seppuku on Nov-23-2009 21:10:

One last little bump.

I've been working on/revising another mix since before I did this one, its been pretty difficult because I am trying something different. Hope to have it finished soon.

great mix man

I listened to it on a long 36 hr drive

I found that maybe even though the first 3 tracks are very much of my like , they werent well programed .

after that the whole mix was pretty solid , excellent mixing and amazing tunes , I sure raped that trackslist and already bought 4 tracks from it . highlight for me was how well red light district was dropped .... stellar

excellent job will sure be on the look out for more of your mixes .... cheers
