any infected mushroom fans?

if you like infected what do you guys think about their newest album, the legend of the black shawarma. i liked this album a lot.

I haven't had a proper listen to their latest album yet but can't say I'm a fan of the stuff I've heard. I wish J00F would stop playing it. It unnecessarily screams try hard rock and Israeli crap.

Why must psytrance try to be harder, faster, rockier, more middle eastern and all that extreme crap? Hate that try hard shit.

They are HUGE over here and I don't know why. They've played here once a year for the past 7 or so years and I hear that it always gets packed.

They make some pretty shitty music, if you ask me.

Posted by junkproject on Oct-30-2009 04:44:

Guess they can stop playing the same set list over and over and over and over.

It's ironic how j00f yabbers on about how pure psy is because it hasn't sold out like trance yet.

Yet plays a major role in getting it to sell out.

It's gotten significantly less middle eastern, only ******s try to make it rockier (and sun project's older stuff is a much better combo between psy and rock anyway, or maybe say younger brother is good too) and it hasn't gotten faster? At least not full on anyway.

I think that's a bit unfair. his sets / albums are all pretty serious and underground. He tends to play a couple of more 'anthem' tunes towards the end, but that's not necessarily a bad thing

Posted by sh33p on Oct-30-2009 11:41:

last time they were making solid music was back in 2000,
i never really understood why they are so popular all over the world and especially in south america because they are playing very shitty music.

and what's with the stupid album name!? they forgot to put some humos in that shawarma

Posted by euphoria on Oct-30-2009 13:04:

I like they're older stuff better. I did experience the Legend of the Black Shawarma tour live at Terminal 5 and I can say as a live band they are still exceptional performers and have a lot of energy. I just really don't see their new style pleasing many of their old skool fans.

They came to Los Angeles for a recent festival, & my friend interviewed them. About two days prior he called me asking me what to ask them because he doesn't listen to any of their music (I'm a fan of their earlier psytrance days).

They have a lot of cool ideas with synth chords here & there (their last two albums, where they changed the most drastically from psytrance). So I'll love the first half of a song, but then not care for the rest.

But if they want to be rock stars, let them be. There's plenty of good psytrance out there.

they are the worst thing ever to happen to psytrance. They more or less killed the whole genre and removed every decency it had. That's according to me.

You gotta admit though, even their worst stuff is way better than skazi.

I disagree completely. They set a standard for the genre back with things like Classical Mushroom and BP Empire. The rest of their stuff was so-so, but only recently have they begun to stray from their roots and try to experiment with new stuff, and most people either love it or hate it with a passion. I hate their new stuff, but you have to admit the massive amount of influence they had on psytrance in general.

Just so you know, Infected Mushroom does not represent the entire psytrance genre. Just because they suck now doesn't mean the whole genre sucks.

Damn this place is full of hipsters and idiots with a teenage mentality of hating on something that is popular.

Infected mushroom put out great music!
Infected Mushroom!

You're an idiot, Existo22, don't even try to act like you know what you're talking about.

My answer in two parts:

Part One:

Infected mushroom put out great music that is loved by millions

Part Two:

Fuck what you thought.

How is this for acting like I know what I am talking about?

I would say that they are largely responsible for turning the israeli scene into a garbage machine that massproduce full on trance. I thought that both Classical Mushroom and BP Empire were rather weak albums. Especially the latter one.
The end result being something like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1D9EUgHt1zE

I'll let it speak for itself...

I agree with you on this for the most part on this. The Israeli scene was heavily influenced by them and Skazi for their main stream success which overshadowed some very good acts like Cosma for example. On the other hand, I think they have enough morning style parties in the middle of the desert to make up for the Astrix, GMS, IM, Skazi garbage, but I can't say that from first hand experience as I've only been to Israel once and I was too young to party.

damn you

Now i can't unsee it.

I'm wating for the raiiiiiin - to wash I-M!

They should make a South Park episode where all the town starts listening to I.M and Suckzi and everyone braggs about how underground it is.
Cartmen and Butters are planning to kill I.M and Skazi with the help of Dubfire and after they kill them they learn an important lesson - its all Tiesto's fault.

Hipsters listen to shit music

(some)hipsters have started listening to IM lately.

No one is saying they are crap because they are popular at all. No one says shpongle is crap because they are popular.

Jumping to conclusions and suggesting we are immature. How mature.

it got nothing to do with that they are popular you idiot.
Astral Projection is one of the most popular acts in trance music ever. I still find most of their production as excellent.

Definitely Astral Projection!

But...

Infected Mushroom too!

Posted by ziptnf on Nov-01-2009 13:25:

You can't deny that Infected Mushroom had a few good tracks, but a large body of their work doesn't get me going at all. Duv dev's voice is simply terrible.

The full-on movement was bound to happen without Infected Mushroom. While I think they had some influence, I disagree with the opinion that they were responsible for it. Most full-on sucks, but there ARE good tracks out there, and denying it means you just haven't heard any yet

Tons of people do think "astral projection brought cheese to goa trance" though. So bad example :P

Another good example of reasonably popular but still good is Juno Reactor. They're now a totally different sound but they haven't sold out, just changed.
