Read This! Fear...is defeated with knowledge

Agree or disagree?

Fear is an in intense feeling..sometimes you can anticipate it, sometimes you cant

so? what can you tell me about this?

Posted by travis75 on Oct-31-2009 16:39:

don't think, just do.

Posted by kadomony on Oct-31-2009 16:41:

courage isn't the absence of fear, it's feeling the fear and doing it anyway.

Why would you want to defeat fear anyway? It has its uses

Fear is often caused by knowledge. Ever heard of the expression "Ignorance is bliss"?

It can, or it might not. Depends on the situation. If a 300 kg grizzly bear walked into your room and you didn't have a powerful gun nearby, I bet you would be scared even if you knew all about bears. :-)

Depends if you had the knowledge of an immediate escape route.

You would be, but probably a bit less.

I'd still be scared, but I would defeat my fear, rather than just soiling myself on the spot and awaiting death.

I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer...

Well, but fear shows you you should be alert.

Suppose you didn't mind walking in dark alleys because you had no fear. You'd put yourself on loads of unnecessary dangerous situations, and all that for no good reason.

I think fear has its uses. Fear of failure/mistakes makes me try harder and I know it does the same for many people. Now if fear of failure/mistakes makes you not try at all, that's a problem.

Try walking into a dark barn that you know is empty. Your knowledge won't defeat the fear, unless you're one of the very sad persons who suffer from a loss of imagination.

well from my experience of being presented with fear all the time for what [for you guys] is no apparent reason.. i could live without the sense of fear.

people could easily live without fear.. common sense on the other hand is essential.

say your walking down an alley way.. you dont need the fear receptor to kick in to tell you that something bad might happen.. you need the common sense receptor to tell you that this isnt such a good idea.. so get ready to pick a piece of wood up and pelt some ****** with it

What gives you the "common sense"? Fear of a possible attack. You can't have one without the other.
