Smiley DJ What Genre is Sasha/Hernan Cattaneo

Also what are Dj's similar to them? I just heard em for the 1st time ever at monster massive. blew me into another dimension. so freaking amazing they stole the show. are they house?

Progressive house. Although these days "progressive tech" is more accurate, particularly for Sasha.

what is the difference between prog house and regular house?

NOT progressive tech is even more accurate.

The way the song is programmed. Though the progression can be expressed with different sound elements and techniques, the most classic is through a building up of percussion instruments.

You're a fucking idiot. There's a reason I said "these days". If you'd seen Sasha play in the last five years you'd know he doesn't play anything like old school prog anymore.

It doesn't matter, he's just looking for an excuse to post random YouTube videos.

Isn't prog house more what DJ's like Desyn Masiello, Luke Fair, Add2Basket etc. play (or in Desyn's case used to play)?

@OP: check out John Digweed, Nick Warren, Lee Burridge for starters.

Progressive in 2009 is massive. It's such a broad and unhelpful term that it really needs promoting to full-blown genre status so we can start sub-categorising it. Which is why I call Sasha "progressive tech".

Their sound is more house than prog-house.
Prog-house is more what Sasha (used to) and Hernan play
