Haris C feat. Anthya - Tonight (d_Verge Remix) [Soundcloud embedded]

Hey all, I downloaded the sample pack for this remix a few days before the contest ended, so I didn't really have the time to enter it. I went ahead and finished it for fun anyway, as I liked the singers voice.

Enjoy, and any feedback would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Took a few more listens, and I think I might want to cut back on it a bit. Not necessary every time the beat drops! lol

cheers!

nice intro with very clear mix. kick comes in and i like it but at the same time dont like it- it doesnt quite sit right in this track.

wanted a bit more variation between when the kick comes in and when the break starts.

break - nice and epic. that vocal cuts through nicely. the vocal brings out a slight lacking of power and clarity in your mid/high monopolising percussions during the main sections.

when the vocals and everything are playing at once the balance sounds good (and kick works) to me and makes apparent a slight lack of quality in the mix of the brunt of the track during the times when the vocal isnt present. its a hard one which im not good at and id love to know some vocal processing/mixing skills to get a vocal that cuts through a very full mix. also, i miss the nice warmth of the bassline you use in the breaks when you discard it on the main sections.

overall really well done and all my negatives are just observations to make a good mix better.

I like this mix. although I have to agree about the whitenoise effects.
i always feel like a producer shouldn't use an identical spot effect more than twice in a track. so like, maybe the first drop, and the last. just add variation, more interest in the main bit of the mix, as far as spot effects go like whitenoise swells and whatnot.
besides that, nice.

Thanks everyone, some good advice here! I always love to hear some constructive critism.

As far as the whitenoise is concerned, here's what happened. I was trying out different patches and finally settled on one that I liked. However, when I rendered down, I accidentally left more than one of the patches running, that resulted in a very harsh whitenoise sound. It was one of about 10 renders that were all ok except for some minor detail here and there, so on the last render I didn't bother to listen through before uploading, my mistake. Anyhow, I cleared that up and also removed the effect in a few spots, as to not over do it.

I also made a few slight adjustments to the mix and in hope of more clarity and to beef it up a bit.

I replaced the soundcloud player in the first post with the revised version.

Thanks again for the feedback!
Cheers!
