Who else got scammed by Tavern on the Green 2009 Halloween?

Hundreds (but apparently closer to thousands) of people stood in line just to have the event closed up! Tickets cost $60 at pre-sale and up to $130 for VIP/p2p tickets the day of. Anyone else got scammed by this? There's a facebook group now!

Tavern on the Green has had some financial problems for a while now and have heard about it maybe closing or changing owners or something of that sort, but I didn't know they were shady enough to do this. Very messed up.

you're right. I asked her what her pics were all about (they were all there @ Tavern, dressed up, etc....) and she said they were all pics of them standing outside waiting LOL (I just couldnt tell because they were close-ups pics of their costumes and such!!) hahah!

I guess her FB status of "best halloween ever: Bar crawl and Tavern on the Green!" threw me off because she wrote it BEFORE the night started

Thankfully they decided to go back to the Halloween bar crawl and didnt waste their time.

She said she is trying to get her money back because it was, indeed, a scam..........that sucks!

Was supposed to be bought by the Boat House people.

I went to a cosmetic buyer/supplier function there . They gave me a bottle of white wine :x

Perhaps it had something to do with the marathon going on the next day. Afterall, the finish is right there infront of Tavern on the Green and I'm sure all the staging tents and tv stuff was being set up.

Now that I remember, there was some special pasta dinner for marathon runners in the night, the guests at the hotel kept asking me where it was, I wonder if it had anything to do with this.

They use it for every NYC marathon for the dinner and then for volunteer set up the next day. That is fucked up that people got scammed.

Actually I managed to get in one of the tents that was set up and a few NYC marathon banners hanging up - but I'm told the correct tent was the next tent north (or east). So not sure if what I saw actually means anything... not like the idiots working there knew anything.

A buddy of mine and his girlfriend got shafted too. I referred them to the facebook group.

Did everyone pay with cash or did they use a cc? If you paid with a cc then you could dispute the charge.

Yeah our group is doing that as well. If you check out the FB group there's tons being done about this, there have been 311 complaints, attorney general complaints, all sorts of consumer interest groups contacted... say what you will about american ambivalence and indifference, but cancel their party and there will be hell to pay!
