Xone 42 Cue

Hey, I recently purchased a Xone-42 from ebay and I've noticed something I think is a little strange about the cueing system. I would appreciate it if you could confirm (or deny) that this is how it is supposed to be.

When I have the "cue mix" knob all the way to the right (at the MIX/PGM side), I hear the main mix along with the track that I am cueing. I hear only the mix if I don't have cue engaged on any channel, but if I turn a cue switch ON, I hear that channel with the mix when the cue is being panned all the way at the MIX side.

Hope that wasn't too confusing ... I don't think this is right, but I thought I'd just confirm it with the A&H experts over here

Twist the knob to the left, you can hear the cue'd track only.

Twist it gradually to the right and the master out gets mixed in slowly.

Only Cue one track not two. If cue two tracks and turn the knob to cue (left) then you'll still hear both tunes.

Again, not sure if that makes sense but I'm also not sure what you were expecting from the mixer? What in your opinion is wrong?

i was expecting to hear only the master when all the way to the right, regardless of what cue switches I have on. So it is working correctly?

what? if the 42 cueing system is the same as the 92 it doesnt matter you will still hear the master if you cued both tracks regardless of whether the knob is at CUE or ADD MIX. Cue you can only hear the tracks cued so if you cue one track you can only hear that.

From what I understand from your above post.

You were expecting only the master to come across when you have the mix knob turned to the right, even if you have a track cued?

That's not how the mix knob works on the 92 (I'm presuming it's the same set up as the 42)..

You have to uncue all tracks to hear the master out.

I think the last time I played (which was also my first time) on the DJM800 it has a slightly different set up where by if you turned the knob to the right, you got the master. If you turned the knob to the left you got the cue. And if it was at 12 o'clock you had a full mix of both? Correct me if I'm wrong, but it does sound like you were expecting that kind of set up?

I'm quite used to the 92's method now. Cue up the track, once i'm happy and I want to bring it in I switch off the cue, which automatically puts my cans on the master output and slowly start raising the fader listening out for the incoming tune. I find it helps me listen to the transition nice and smoothly while bouncing back to the cued track every now and again if I feel the need to

You can also split the cue so that the master is in the right and cue is on the left. This also changes what the main level meter is presenting.

You can download the manual from Allen & Heath's website. I recommend doing that because there is a lot to the mixer.
