hi! just got back from taiwan and had a blast over there ( not enough "good" music unfortunately )
I got to go to 2nd floor over there and let me tell you it's a great club
here's my bit of review on the club and takkyu ishino.
The club is actually small, only 500 to 1000 people can get in there ( more like 500 ) there's one main dance floor ( with white squares that light up with strobe lights the same way as in Michael Jackson - billie jean , totally cool ), a balcony area on top, a backroom chill out zone, and the bar area ( cheap drinks! ) ... overall it's just normal stuff, but I particurlaly liked the laser show.
Oh and the volume isn't all that loud, yet the sound is clearly audible from the street and my hotel which happened to be right next door ( you could hear the bass slightly rumbling at the 11th floor ) ..
First off Dj reason ( resident dj I believe ) did the start up and that was cool, yet a bit to housey for me and sometimes it really went out of bounds ( for the better! ) when he played :
D note - shed my skin
Pvd - for an angel ( which to my astonishement didn't get the crowds moving )
Humate - love stimulation ( pvd reworx )
finally when it got around 1 am Takkyu Ishino the man came around to start his set, he didn't play a single track I knew, it was more like hard techno which I'm still ok with.
I got to talk with one local who's a total fan of the guy, and he was telling me how Takkyu is one of the most respected djs in asia, and to that I could only reply, I don't even know him ! and asians barely get any coverage around the world yet the rest of the world ( or more like european djs ) comes to asia to play at clubs. I can say there's treasures to be found in asia ( after checking I saw that Takkyu Ishino plays around the world some, but mostly at big gatherings like mayday and such )
I unfortunately didn't get to stay till the end ( left around 4 am ) cause I was taking the plane that morning to get back home ( damm I'm sad to be back ) and was still able to figure out when the mix ended cause the slight bass rumble in the hotel quit around 8.15 when I was having breakfast.
Conclusions on taiwan : great place to visit, there's really some hidden beauties over there, oh and learn some chinese cause no one speaks english, they won't even try to understand your hand motions when trying to get a point accross which can get annoying at times. The driving is insane so watch out .... and for those interested, electronic items are priced about the same but there's bargains to be made but nothing impressive.
I had never gone to asia , and I can't even compare it to other countries in asia , yet I somewhat feel it's like japan only cheaper.
Next place for me to go to then . JAPAN
If you want to spend an unusual vacation go there! It's cheap!
I heard about the club cause I had remembered seeing a mix by Jeff Yen at 2nd Floor Taipei.
I like Takkyu Ishino, i got his newest album called Karaoke Jack, weird cover though, he appears to be dressed up as a woman. i remember hearing it for the first time in a music store over here in okinawa and instantly buying it.
