Is TO finally getting the respect it deserves?
This week seemed especially epic as Basement Jaxx and Pete Tong were in town. Had the pleasure of catching both sets for a bargain basement price of $20 each (excuse the bad pun). And what sets they were! Jaxx had people stage diving and Tong had me dancing on the ledge well after 4 AM. I asked Felix why they chose such a small venue and he said "We just flew down for some interviews, so just decided to have a little fun." That little fun meant starting early and then closing out the club well past 4AM (just like Jaxx). The crowd def. showed their appreciation for that. And speaking of crowd, a while back I chatted briefly with Attalla after his Skybar Set and he told me something like "Toronto is the best electronic music city in North America. And now with the boat cruises coming in every weekend of the summer, there is really no competition. The crowd really is amazing here." Who is part of that crowd though? Not only Torontonians. At Tong, I met a few Buffalonians who come here especially for the house clubs. They were in awe by how nice all the clubs here are. Anyways, you catch my drift. I'm def. feeling the love all around, and it's great to see this shift from Hip-hop to house. I was in Korea for a year starting in 2006, and when I came back there was no doubt that house ruled. I'm curious to see what direction it will now take...

there are like 6 entertainment zones that i can think off the top of my head where you can party till you drop, that's a lot of variety, not counting everthing in between
