Love is in the air Snowboard Season 2009/2010

My mountain is probably having a limited opening on Wednesday............

Fuck yes! I finally have people to go with again after most of my friends moved away from my mountain.

Plans this year:

1. Lots of Crystal Mountain
2. Mt. Bachelor (its literally a whole mountain with chair lifts)
3. Stevens Pass with my friend from HS/Middle School
4. A few times over on the east side of the cascades at Mission Ridge (nicest, fastest snow in the cascades)
5. Canada someplace, but not Olympics Land, fuck that shit before or after... maybe the Rockies?

Who else is fucking pumped?

Posted by Lews on Nov-09-2009 08:26:

I'm going up to Olympic Land myself. My family has owned a condo there for over 15 years. Not going to let some stupid games ruin my winter.

Not sure about the local places. Didn't they raise the prices at Crystal this year?

Got all my gear, hoping to go to mammoth once this season. Will be going to local big bear\mt high, which is an hour away from where i live.

If they did I cant tell, I hope not, but yea since I started going there 12 years ago almost they have been severely ass raping their customers year after year in increases.

They have upgraded one lift, and added one lift in the 12 years I have been going. Granted they had like 3 or 4 shitty seasons in a row, but still, they could seriously improve some of the shit, especially the lower parking lots. 70$ almost a ticket and I still have to park a mile away and sit on a cold ass towed trailer to the front?

I almost considered a season pass this year, but I dont think I can justify the cost to the amount of times Ill go (especially if i add in teh times I actually pay myself and dont go as a group with my dad and brother).

Crystal sorta pisses me off too lately, I boarded a lot outside of Crystal this last season and I realized how much nicer the runs are at places like Stevens and Mission ridge, where every steep pitch is not a mogul filled shit fest. The problem at crystal is that all the nice fun steep pitches are so skinny that skiers can not get in nice good turns so they end up doing quick little hop turns, which leads to moguls, and I am not so fucking insane enough to literally fly through moguls head first. I have fallen that way, I have seen friends get fucked up that way... My mom tore her ACL SKIING moguls. I respect the moguls.

Hell yeah, wicked slopes over there.

So many New Zealanders though! Which, frankly, kind of ruins the experience.

Going to Tahoe for new years, might ski some time before that also

Any decent mountains around NY? (including PA)

I can't wait!!!!

I missed out last season going up to big bear. The only chance we got to go there was 2 miles of backed up traffic on the mountain and my buddy's scion tc couldn't make it lolol.

Now I'm in Ohio there's a place about 50 min from where I'm at i went to back when i was in ski club in high school.

It's November and it's 68 degrees here. WTF

i am totally stoked, finally found some friends that snowboard in the area this year, and bought a new board. i haven't been in 2 years, but i'm sure it's like riding a bike, probably will take 1 or 2 times to get used to it again.

the only thing that sucks, the closest "decent" mountain is about 5 hours away.

I'm going snowboarding from January 2 until the 9th, in the Austrian Gerlos. It's going to be my first time, so I'm pretty stoked. I'm having a couple of lessons in December on artificial snow, let's hope that helps (probably just a bit). I borrowed all clothes from a friend of mine, the only things I bought were a bumppant and some snowboots.

Man. Fuck. Why'd you have to make this thread? I was trying really hard to not think about the winter. Now back to dreaming about the mountains during class =/

LOL

Crystal has a pretty ok montage type video of last season. I have to say last season was really nice...

We went up there in late march on a wednesday and it was clear blue skies as far as you could see and it was deserted!

Im probably going to the alps as usual, but i need new gear ASAP, i broke the board last season lol. Any recomandations? I dont drive park alot but it was actually in the park i broke the tail on my snowboard. It was brand new Rome Design board which wasnt meant for parks obviously. Also im tall and heavy, and i drive fucking hard and fast so i need something that can handle pressure. I loved the Rome board because of the carving and speed, but it never felt solid. I borrowed a Ride park-board (pink and gay) after i broke the other one and that seemed to handle everything but the carving and direction was terrible. So something in between those two maybe. I ride off-piste, mountain, big jumps, speed and everything. i dont care about spin and rotation as i suck at that but i want twin-tip as i drive both ways.

Its all about foot size... width of board. If you are tall and heavy a wider board is great for freestyle mountain riding. I have always looked for a wider board, I am not that tall, but a little bit heavy, the wider board I like cause I can get nice deep carves with more board in contact with snow.
