PSU causing problems to FW-interface?
So my former 380W Antec True Power broke down last week, and I bought an used 250W PSU from a friend for replacement. Did also a fresh install of software/drivers.
Now my Audiofire just crackles in ASIO applications, if I set "release driver when application is in background" in Cubase, and momentarily switch to any other program / then back, it works fine for a short moment.
I'm not sure what the IRQ settings were before, but now firewire is in bus 21 and no other device shares it. CPU isn't showing any spikes either. So could this be caused by the PSU? (the audiofire isn't powered via FW).
Perhaps if you are using an undersized and overheating psu that will surely fry your computer and house.
Works fine now. Did a fresh Windows install from a less tweaked image.
For future reference there's a whole article on how to fix IRQ issues
