Stereo's new "concept" Saturdays - Love it or Hate it ?

Can I please start to plan my life again ? Yes, it revolves around ((())) and am very particular about who I want to see, especially given my travel time.

Posted by Instinctman on Nov-21-2009 17:22:

Whatever you want or vote or dont like it's the new policy. You waste your time! Like they will change that for a forum vote thread. It's made for the people who love the place, not just the dj's. Deal with it. my 2 cents

Posted by Marcus007 on Nov-21-2009 17:25:

whatever lets wait and see how many people vote for what!

Posted by Instinctman on Nov-21-2009 17:32:

Have fun then, nothing will change. Like if less of 50ppl will convince the owner. Yeah right! Put your effort on voting who you want as a mayor or minister, then you'll really gotta have the power to change things. Not afterhours rules.

Posted by Marcus007 on Nov-21-2009 17:37:

OKAY INSTINCTMAN

YOURE RIGHT

I WILL NOT VOTE IN ANYTHING BUT MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS!!!

HAREL 4 LYFE

Hate it... I want to travel to go to Stereo but do not want to take the risk.

I hope the switch by spring.

Posted by Instinctman on Nov-21-2009 17:58:

taking a risk ...omg! You like the place, then go. Don't hope, why you think they will change the rule if they create it?

I won't go if i don't know who's playing period. I go for the dj AND Stereo. We have to have both or i'll choose a safer option like Circus or RedLite

Didn't even go to Stereo since reopening... It's sad

I don't go out "afterhour" that much anymore but when i decide to do so, i can't afford to have a boring night because i go once every 2 or 3 months and the cost in energy the week after is too important.

If someone go to stereo almost every week then the concept is ok, its nice to have a surprise, to go there without having expectations, etc...

The concept is also Ok for someone who like every music genre. He just go out and have fun, that's perfet. But some people for example like prog, tribal House and doesn't like soulfull house or vice versa. If a cient require a specific sound to enjoy fully his night, then that person will like to know who's playing

That strategie focus on the regular but turn down another part of their clientele that music connaisseur, that choose their night wisely and go out on occasion

Posted by Instinctman on Nov-21-2009 18:03:

i'm sure, stereo will invite boring dj's to loose money and receive complains for fun. They want to satisfy their clients not just people who watch just the line up.

Why you just don't go out with your friends to have fun that's it and don't just play the *connaisseur* , so you can know new dj's, extend your *connaissance* and not staying stuck in your preferences.

Posted by BubbleBat on Nov-21-2009 18:22:

Stereo doesn't invite boring dj's but they might invite a dj that's playing a music genre that i don't like much. I will probably have fun but it will not be a GREAT night because the music will not be appealing to me a 100%

Again if you go out all the time, no problem. If its the only time you'll go out for the next 2 months, i wish you good luck

Its a personnal decision : I don't go if i don't know who's playing !!!! My decision is not better than yours and yours not better than mine either... its personnal

Its a business decision on the Stereo side. They decide to focus on the regulars and keep it more underground because they think that when its all said and done, it will be more profitable that way. Its their business, they do what they want

at the end of the day it will always be djs who are popular in the gay community

they will never book a techno, tech house, trance, etc djs

if they book someone who will pull non-gays as well (howells) they will announce the dj

my 0.02

My thoughts exactly.

The vast majority of my friends (myself included) have not been going for said reasons. We are not being music snobs, but rather have likings for certain genres and dj's.

Posted by Instinctman on Nov-21-2009 20:47:

I understand, but if you know well the stereo guest dj's since years, you'll know the type of dj's they invite saturdays with the music style too. Otherwise, fridays and sundays are more electro,techno,tech-house depending and they do promo.

like it or not, it's like that. If by exemple, you travel to go at stereo or you can afford to get there, find out and get out if you really don't like it and cross the street to Circus or whatever other parties.

well this friday coming up we got SIS, maher daniel, audiofly and clive henry. all who play a lot of tech house/techno/minimal/whatever u wana call it.

i think this is a massive booking for the people that aren't into stereo's typical 'sound' and they are obviously not just booked cause their big in the gay community.

edit: i know you're talking about saturdays but still, don't go on a saturday and instead go on a friday when they book somebody interesting.

there was also audion last weekend which was incredible, and to all the techno heads that didn't come but are complaining - sucks to be you! those are only two bookings this month and i think more will come...i haven't been on a saturday when the dj isn't announced but they will always have certain bookings where u could know who's playing. just gotta keep your head up

Thing that I hate most is that you can barely see the DJ.

D-FORMATION LIVE BITCHES !!!!!!!!!!!!!

^^^

F$%&k. Ah well, that's $35 less in their coffers.

Posted by Romchik22 on Nov-22-2009 17:12:

Seems like many peeps are not liking the new stereo that much . I completly agree that it sucks to waste 35$ and a sunday for an event where the dj is unknown.

heard the club was PACKED!

Posted by Schadenfreude on Nov-22-2009 19:46:

like this concept or not, the club is doing fine.

if it wasn't the concept would be gone.

thread closed.

I think the word was out that Vibe was scheduled to be there. When I went Friday, everyone knew not only that he was scheduled, but that he canceled. It's a good thing they had D-formation to pick up the slack.

Do you know this for sure, or are you guessing? Just because they're sticking to it isn't an indicator yet I'd guess. It just seems logical that before they presented the concept to the public they planned on some transition time.
