[Review] Ronski Speed & Christopher Lawrence @ Pacha 11.20.09

Awesome night. wish i kept a TL of the first two sets, but was too pre-occupied having a blast. my one complaint was that during Eco's set, the sound was pretty low. from what i caught, it was a thoroughly enjoyable opening set - playing a few tracks i remember hearing in some mixes he's posted here on the forums.

ronski opened up with solarity - terminal 6, a personal favorite of mine ATM. from this point on the night just got better and better, and this ended up being probably the most fun i've had out. the crowd was awesome, music was awesome, sound was awesome, everything was awesome. pacha seemed at perfect capacity, with a great mix of people. though i went out of my way to request Aural Slave, i 100% enjoyed ronski's set and went bonkers for the perspective space.

i caught a little of chris lawrence here and there but i spent most of the time during his set in the basement, which was equally enjoyable (caught a lot of MadRaverRai's set, dropping down some sick remixes). went back upstairs for about a half hour of brad, then began the trip home.

also, an awesome little treat for me: going to use the bathroom downstairs, and catching a DJ (i think Danny Shoc?) play Moony - I don't Know Why (DJ Chus & Jerome Isma-ae Superdub Mix).

On that note, I have been missing out on too many parties, I think after this vacation I will need to get my ass back into the action!

text from me, true story marcello i very much enjoyed your set. ronski had a great tracklist so definitely enjoyed his set. the hour or so i listened to christopher lawrence was good too but psy-trance i can do for only so long. the dj downstairs during's chris' set played a nice house set from the time i was there. if i wasn't so damn tired i would have stayed the entire night but it was a long week.

as for the crowd, it was packed but a very different crowd then the normal pacha crowd. the guidos were annoying but nothing like the guidos at a normal pacha night. no guido circles . anyway, it wasn't as annoying as it normally is but it was still crowded.

nice seeing everyone

What an amazing night, seems like forever I've been waiting for Chris Lawrence to get his ass back to NY but it was well worth the wait. Guess other people felt the same cos Pacha was rammed. Chris Lawrence threw down the sickest trance set I've ever heard from him. Dirty tough trance but with some sick grooves, he had incrdible track selection and mixing was seamless. I didn't stop dancing until his last record. Thanks to Pacha for bringing him out, please let's get him back again soon.

Love Poundin' Sensation

Eco - big ups on opening duties. You rock, s0n.

Ronski fuking SPEED! WOW I requested him to play The Deep Devine and it was his 2nd song of the night - so I am just going to pretend he totally played that for me . That song WENT OFF! I mean right away - he changed the tone of the night.

Half of his set was probably vocals but I didn't mind. They were sweet tunes. I can't remember any dj who made me go to the middle of the dancefloor to dance my tushy off. I got my rave on for Rosnki buahaha.

Honestly - he did such a great fuking job. At the end of his set I was like "you should have played YAYA" and he said "an Aural - but it was too short of a set". Obviously - the fan girl over here can have a 5 hour Ronski set and it still wouldn't be enough.

He plays such a great variety of tunes - I have always loved that about him. From A&B to Ferry to of course, Euphonic!

I hope he comes back - he got such a positive vibe from the crowd.

Chris Lawrence - totally not my thing. Left around 330.

First off..I'd like to thank MASSIVE for making this event happen. The line was smooth and there was no trouble getting in. I got there a bit later that I had wished but I caught the last 1/2 hr of Eco's set. It was nothing short but Ronksi Speed was awesome for the 2 hrs he got to spin. Im horrible at IDing choons but it was a blast to finally get to see him spin and he certainly had the crowd pumped. I left around 3ish...as much as I was enjoying Christopher Lawrence's set...i was just hella tired. Some of the crowd near the mid section were a pain in the ass so I decided to call it an early night. Overall, I had a great night and thanks again to massive event for "free before midnight" deal.

Marcello, I thought your set was awesome last night, loved the surprises towards the second half. I was also shocked at how hard Ronski was and how great his set was. Trackssss. Great night out, a lot better than I was anticipating too.

Had an amazing time last night. Loved Jim and Brad's sets, along with Ronski and Christopher Lawrence. Best part was when Ronski Speed dropped Space Perspective . I also now know to never use the atm at Pacha again. 9 dollar service charge wtf

Love that track <3 especially the Gareth remix.

That's a given, its worth taking a walk a few blocks out of your way to a bank atm beforehand.

Wow, you never fail to surprise me I need to check this remix tho. I have the swollen booty remix which is a bit more chilled but still quite melodic.

It's okay, I'm REALLY going all out in the Gallery room at Rebel on Wednesday, unleashing about 4 or 5 brand new original tracks for the first time... One of them is a huge tune I just finished this morning, with someone from NYTA on vocalssssss (ooooo!)...

Ronski also played the mash up of On A Good Day & Metropolis. omfg such a sexy fun song!

I think Mike came up to Wai & I and I was like "can't say HIIII - too busy jamming"

hahaha. Omg its such a fun song. Seriously I am so happy when I have such a fantab weekend. It's like - the happiness lingers the WHOLE weekend

Posted by Frutersi on Nov-23-2009 15:40:

wow what a great night... def the most fun ive had out in a while. prolly cuz i knew so many ppl. too much shit to say but ronski killed it! (except for his mixing skills... ) CL was aight, not really my thing, basslines got too repetitive after a while but he some good drops.
and brads intro was awesome.

oh - CL's closing, did anyone else hear a song kind of like simon patterson - f16 (not the main riff, everything else)? was very surprised when i heard...

Came to this randomly on my trip to the city from TO. Met a few of you on the dancefloor and partied it out proper. My set of the night went to Christopher Lawrence, Ronski was too vocally for me I think. Pacha was great, not too many guido's/ginos's around which is always good. Vibe was sweet too. Forgot how strong the booze usually is in the city, got really wrecked.

Also went to Love after, that was the best techno I have heard in a while. Sound in there rocks!

Nice meeting Felix, Erica, Claudia, Evi and everyone else I talked to in my drunken NYC club ramblings. lol You all rock!

See you next time I come down.

(it's Chris btw for anyone wondering or still in recovery mode)

how long did you stand in line to get the pizza? Last time I went there, there was a line at least 30 ppl and it was same for eat-in/take out. Nasty old mafia goon on probation yelled at me for asking him whether it was the same line for take out or eat in. I don't give a shit how good your pizza is - you don't fucking yell at your customers, regardless of who the fuck you are. I've been going there for years, like a tradition every time I'm in the city - this time they lost me as a customer.
