Bad mixing

Listening to a set on ETN.fm progressive channel, which is great usually and even this set now is playing some nice tracks but... 3 times in the last half hour a track has come in on the wrong beat, so the snare is suddenly on 1-3 instead of 2-4. This is the most basic of the basic, I don't understand why I hear this so much now.

Are DJs getting worse?

They just don't know when to use the sync button..

But i'm being serious.

yeah, phrasing properly should be a given if you wanna play, that being said, there are the odd occasions where a track phrased like you mentioned do sound a little cooler, but those combos are pretty rare.

Aye, i agree. i'm trying to think of a few songs that do that.

i always find i could mix Morning Lemon by the chemical brothers with ANYTHING.

magicians never tell how the trick is done.

I have just come across a very very few here and there while playing around. 1% of the time has been because i thought to do this, but the others involved messing up my timing on a mix, and sitting back and going, "woah this actually works.".

Really does not happen too often though, and phrased properly tracks should sound right almost 100% of the time. (the ones that usually don't are due to shoddy production...we have all had those tracks that seem to have bars missing, or that they just don't follow the "rules" and are a pain in the ass to mix.)

because computers are djeing for them now, and computers dont have groove. it gets delayd one kick because the computer accidently thinks that the crash cymbal is a snare.
