Dumonde synth glide effect (See the Light)

Quite an old track now but very memorable.

Im wondering if any of you guys know how they did that glide effect on the main lead? (1:35)

Hard to describe but its not a smooth glide, almost as if each voice has a different glide time. Anyway take a listen and you'll see

Listening again it sounds like portamento as well as the pitch bend

Sounds like portamento quickly followed by a note off note change (know what I mean?!?)

If you set the lead to a fairly slow portamento setting and overlap the next note with the previous one you get the slide and then note off/on to the next one for the pitch jump.

That sounded perfectly understandable in my head lol.
