Wedding venue info?
Hey guys and gals,
So my fiance and I are planning our wedding to be held in Toronto in 2011 which we are really excited about and we are currently looking at several venues as options but I wanted to know your thoughts as well to make sure we weren't missing out on the perfect place.
We are currently liking one king west and graydon hall the most of the ones we've seen, so they can be used as ball park guidelines.
Are there any other venues that any of you have been to where you have fallen in love with the charm or elegance of the location? Our requirements are that it must hold at least 150 people, be available for the ceremony and the reception and have close proximity to accommodations since we have several out of town guests coming (including ourselves!) Being in Toronto is key since we want to make it as convenient as possible for people who may be flying in from out of the country.
We are both going to be coming up to look at these places over the new years holidays so are trying to put our list together now.
Much thanks in advance.
Ps Hope to see a bunch of you again over new years!
Dave
I DJ for a company that specializes in private functions, and have done literally hundreds on weddings in this city over the past 5-6 years....
What's your budget like????
Their are so many great options in this city for wedding venues....
Personally I'm a fan of Inn on the Park or Liberty Grande, but if i knew what you were looking to spend I could make some recommendations that would be appropriate..
$10,000 or less on venue. $100-$150 per person/plate
asking a question like that on TA will only get you answers like "comfort zone". lol

My brother is getting married in Toronto in September. This is the venue that he has chosen: http://www.archeo.ca/ It's in the distillery district and it looks gorgeous. I'm assuming that the wedding and the reception will be held there b/c he hasn't mentioned anything about a separate venue for the ceremony.

This was one of our top choices if we stayed in Toronto for our wedding....
Sunnyside Pavillion. I got married there this summer. There are 2 option: upstairs or the courtyard.
Take a look at their website.

| Originally posted by timmyboy it all depends on how much you would want to spend. for 150 and 10K you can kiss Graydon Hall and Old Mill and most places good bye. Now at around 12-13K you might pull off Old Mill, otherise only banquet halls. And only on Friday - its usually cheaper and the minimum spend is less. Minimum spend is a bitch btw. Graydon Hall was our favourite out of the gate but it has a minimum spend of 25K and thats before taxes. We ended up going with Eagle's Nest Golf Club. Out of the Banquest Halls that we have seen Le Jardin and La Primavera were te best and would be close to your budget. |

| Originally posted by nusty Graydon Hall is within our budget. It's $10,000 for an all day rental. (we are planning on early October) Old mill seems like a wedding factory puppy mill and have ruled them out. we talked to them and they have crazy turnaround times for using the chapel and seems like we'd be bumping into other parties the whole time. Even without the rental of Graydon, we are budgeting $25,000 on food and settings. Add Drinks and we are well within their $25k restriction. I only said the venue budget was 10k not the overall cost. Thanks for the other recommendations, I'll check them out. |
Old Mill!
I got married at the Old Mill Inn and it is beautiful, very elegant...looks like an old castle inside! You can do everything there and they have 2 options for acommodations...Old Mill which is available at a discount to you and the guests or Valhalla Inn which is close by and also offers a discount for Old Mill weddings. Both were great, our guests were very impressed. The place itself and all the rooms are so gorgeous we barely spent anything on decorations..seat covers and some flowers is all that was needed.
The Mill has large enough rooms for your party and the food was AMAZING! It's worth the $$.

Sorry if anyone has already mentioned this..
I was at a wedding at the old mill inn this past summer and it was a pretty sweet venue..I got married in the Dominican Republic but if I had the money and/or the desire to have such a wedding, I would have definitely wanted a venue like this...

He said that there's a restaurant linked to the venue however and that holds up to 400. But he thinks they have a $30,000 minimum budget. Looks like this won't work for you. Sorry!
