What's TA's thoughts on FTP sharing?
I tried searching through past threads for info on this, but was unable to come up with anything. I'm wondering what the webmaster/you feel towards FTP's? I personally run a 70 Gig mostly electronic FTP with roughly 6,000 mp3s and would be more then glad to share it with you guys/gals. I'm not sure if this is allowed but perhaps you could give me the ok and I'll post the info. Thanks
Only if you can guarantee you have no albums on there... and that it's ratio free so anybody can access it..
...but I dunno if you'd want to get into that predicament...

swamper cant you just let him advertise it maybe make it a sticky or something but add a little something like "Not sponsored by or affiliated with ta.com" and then let him put albums or whatnot?

I've thought about sharing my stuff on ftp but there are too many problems:
1. Bandwidth (for cable or dsl you'll run out of bandwidth pretty quick).
2. Your ISP usually has the right to terminate your account for wide variety of reasons, so if you don't have a backup ISP, think twice about it, otherwise you could be left without any internet connection.
3. Hackers can break in and destroy you system if you dont have a good security setup. Remember that ftp user/password are sent as clear text (unencrypted) and can be easily intercepted and read.
For these and other reasons I only share ftp with friends.
